“Great location. Small, but comfortable apartment.”

The apartment is compact and doesn't have much of a view, but is nicely furnished, very clean and comfortable. One thing I did not realize is that the apartment is located in a hotel -- the Rockwell -- so you have lots of amenities like a concierge, lobby with comfortable sofas and a bar, and reception desk.

Although I was a bit uncertain about the neighborhood in which the apartment is located (Der Waterkant, Greenpoint), it turned out to be great. It's walking distance to both the waterfront and downtown attractions (Green Market, Bo Kaap, museums, gardens). Most importantly,
there were many very good restaurants within two blocks of the hotel, a great grocery store (Spar), and the Cape Quarter mall (which is actually quite charming and has lots of unique home furnishings and clothing stores). The side streets behind Cape Quarter have quaint row houses, galleries and cafes. So, it's a real neighborhood.

Some restaurants we enjoyed were Beluga (two blocks down Prestwick street in the Foundry - good Asian-fusion cuisine; half-price sushi and drinks until 7 pm; and excellent 3-course meal for 180 R); the French bistro next door to the hotel in the same building, the Turkish restaurant across Napier from the hotel, and La Petite Tarte (French bakery and cafe on one of side streets behind Cape Quarter). I also heard very good things about Pigalle (a few blocks away on Somerset), but we didn't have a chance to go there.
