We experienced such a fabulous wine tour with Jarred from PG Tops - he was super knowledgeable about wine, conservation, history and just about everything. He shared relevant information as well and a significant amount of additional information- whilst not being too overbearing. We were completely spoiled for the day and would hugely recommend both Jarred and PG Tops.

We explored Cape Town for three full days with our wonderful guide, Richard, on private tours. He is very knowledgeable about the city's history. His intelligence and humor added to his tourist info. Richard met us promptly each morning. He changed our itinerary on the first morning due to clouds covering the top of Table Mountain. We took a city tour instead before our afternoon visit to Robben Island. That helped us get a better perspective. Richard went above and beyond in service when he offered to take our morning purchases to our hotel so we did not have to carry them to Robben Island on the ferry. The next day the clouds cleared. Table Mountain was spectacular as was our journey to Cape Point. The last day was full day visiting three wineries, each very different. We had lunch in the pretty city of Stellenbosch and had some time to explore. The days were full, but well-paced. Richard gave us as much time as we needed at each stop. In the evenings we explored the city's waterfront shopping and restaurants. PG Tops planned a great visit for us and we enjoyed all of it. PG Tops met us at the airport and took us back right on schedule. I recommend them highly! Joyce

Had a full day tour for whale watching, wine tasting and penguin watching at Stony Point!

From the start, Pieter and Khunji were extremely prompt in their reply and extremely friendly. They were also flexible to changes to suit customer's preference. I had an easy and fun time in discussing the customised itinerary.

Our guide, Gerhard, was extremely engaging and knowledgeable. I learnt a great deal about the whites, coloured and black communities in South Africa. Gerhard was able to explain information in an interesting and succinct manner which made it easy to remember (especially when on holiday!). On top of that, Gerhard knew where to stop to take great photos especially for the Chapman drive area!

I have tried another operator for my tours in Cape Town but I prefer PG Tops! I would highly recommend PG Top Tours for your tours in Cape Town. And do request for Gerhard as your guide!

First off, booking and organizing with PG Tops was smooth, efficient, and professional. Caren responded to all our questions and advance requests for date changes promptly and clearly.

Our first day-trip, however, did not start so smoothly. We waited for our driver/guide in the hotel lobby and had to call the company when he didn't show up 15 minutes past the appointed time. It turned out that the office had some communication confusion confirming with the guide who was not aware that he was booked with us! Because this was for the Postberg Flower Reserve (>1.5hr drive north of CPT), and I really wanted some of the morning light for wildflower photography, this delay was seriously eating into our time budget. This was when PG Top's problem solving skills sprang to action. Peter, the owner who lives in the city, came to pick us up and had our guide meet us outside the city on the way to the flower reserve. Because our car for the day also hadn't been arranged/picked-up, Peter gave his car (a nice BMW SUV) to us for the day.

And we were lucky to have Johan Wolmarans as our guide. A long-time travel guide all over South Africa, he had vast knowledge on almost everything we could think of about traveling in the region. As a naturalist & photography enthusiast, he also understood my frustration with the 1+hr delay in the morning. To make up for it, he promised to stay longer in the Cape Floral region to catch the late afternoon light, which made me happy! Johan also knew the Postberg area inside and out. He knew all the great spots for photography, and we never felt rushed because he himself was enjoying taking photos. After exploring the flower reserve, he took us to a quaint restaurant in idyllic setting just outside the national park for a satisfying lunch then onto Seeberg viewpoint, a relatively small and incredibly beautiful spot (perhaps even more so than inside the nat'l park!), for our golden hour photography.

We were happy then to find out that we'd have Johan for two other day trips. For Cape Peninsula trip, our itinerary ran optimally starting with arriving just before the first boat to Seal Island (the next boat tour had much bigger crowd waiting in line when we returned to Hout Bay). Best planning & knowledge still couldn't win against traffic, and we returned to Cape Town a bit too late to take the cable car up the Table Mountain. Wanting to make us even happier, Johan decided to squeeze in the cable car round trip early next morning before our Winelands tour with him. And boy, was I glad that we made it up there! - the rotating cable car ride itself was interesting, and walking around the flat mountain top afforded great views of the entire city. I believe our Winelands tour day stretched by 1-2 hrs because of this, and I'm grateful for Johan's time and considerable efforts.

Johan is a good listener (as well as a talker!), and having learned our tastes in the previous two days he made some great recommendations for vineyards to visit. We first visited Muratie, a rustic establishment with good South African "port" that added color and contrast to the rest of day, which included lunch at Delaire Graff and tastings at Tokara & Grande Provence. The last three estates were all filled with artworks and situated in stunning landscape to our delight! And THAT was a perfect way to end our trip.

Thanks so much for your wonderful review. Although we try to get it 100% right all the time - we do make mistakes, and as my old man drilled into me from a young age - how you fix your mistakes is what defines your character. I am pleased that your experience turned out to be a good one, and I wish we could take credit for Johan - but in truth, we're the lucky ones that he chooses to work with us! He is one of our beloved regulars, and his willingness to cancel his plans to make sure your trip went smoothly will always be appreciated by us.

Feel free to come back and visit us anytime!

The morning tour of Table Mountain and the city was great. Our guide, Richard, was friendly and knowledgeable about the city's history. The afternoon, however, was the most memorable and moving part of the tour. At the District 6 Museum Richard explained the history of apartheid and the forced relocation of the residents of District 6. Then he took us to his home township which developed as a result of those painful policies. There he introduced us to some of the residents; we saw how they live; and we learned about their traditions and customs. This was a very special experience and we would highly recommend Richard's tour.

Many thanks to Caren and her team for organising and arranging the private day tour to Cape of Good Hope. Our guide Richard was excellent, in particular in providing detailed cultural and historical information about this magnificent country. Xhosa language with its clicks is fascinating.

Strong recommendation to book the airport transfer alongside.

We are a group of four (very) mature Australians enjoying a South African holiday and we would like to compliment PG Tops for first rate service.

On 20 September, our guide was Richard who took us on a customised Cape Peninsula tour. He picked us up promptly at 8.30am which meant we were ahead of the larger tour and school groups at beautiful Kirstenbosch gardens. On the way, he pointed out the various areas or neighbourhoods we were passing. This was particularly important to two of our group who had last spent time as young travellers in Cape Town in 1974.

Richard engaged us in interesting conversation about historical and contemporary topical issues as we journeyed to Muizenberg, Kalky’s Bay, Boulders Beach, Simon’s Town before we arrived at the Cape of Good Hope. After a great lunch at Two Oceans restaurant, Richard drove us back to town via Chapman’s Peak, assisting with a photo opportunity for Mr Chapman who was one of our party.

The whole tour is a highlight of our four week trip and was enhanced immeasurably by Richard’s commentary and excellent driving.

On 22 September PG Tops also arranged a transfer from Cape Town to Franschhoek with Merryl. Merryl went out of her way to include a stop at the colourful houses which are part of Cape Town’s interesting past and vibrant life. Merryl was able to inform us of many aspects of South African wines and added to our enjoyment of the winelands and their many vineyards.

Lastly, PG Tops has amended our transfer back to Cape Trowbridge on 24 September so that we can spend a little time on foot in Stellenbosch. Great company and great people !

We only had a half day tour since we flew out the same day as our tour but it was perfect. Ricardo was the best. We took the cable to the top of table mountain but it was too misty to see anything but everything else was perfect. I wouldnt hesitate to book this again when we return. Top notch!!!
