We went without knowing what to espect, the surprise was excellent.

Very friendly staff took us to our table and we could sample a variety of different African dishes, that although there were not top chef they were reasonably prepared.

The show was excellent, nice music and performers.

We were sorely disappointed in this highly recommended restaurant! We were very much looking forward to an entertaining evening. It started out well with the group drumming lesson that was interesting an fun. But at the table the menu was not explained to us. We had several items served that were just okay. When the server came back to our table she asked if there was anything else we would like? Based on the message at the top of the menu we thought oh, this is all there is and ordered a couple more items of what we'd already tried. Then they brought 6 more items. By this time we were full and it didn't really matter because we just didn't like Ann of the food or quality of it. My husband is an adventurous eater and will try anything while I am way more hesitant to try things that I'm not familiar with. But even my husband was unimpressed. The entertainment was ok but definitely not a place we would return!

A nice little restaurant with a very interresting large fix menu capturing different African cuisine. We enjoyed each dish, and had way more than enough to eat. The entertainment is fun, maybe a little touristy but still enjoyable. If you hang around until the very end you may have a little fun with the restaurant staff which is not scripted and more spontaneous. An overall nice restaurant with good food, and light entertainment.

Who would have thought that such a gem existed in a not so great corner of Cape Town right opposite the bus station? We managed to park right in front of the restaurant and the car guard was so helpful to my handicapped spouse. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted and advised to use the toilets downstairs before climbing the flight of stairs upstairs which is where the action is unless they are very full. (Note: they have no lifts for folks in wheelchairs).

We managed to get a free table just as a show segment had ended. Drinks were served quickly and the waitress asked if there was anything we didn't eat. They were able to substitute fish and meat dishes no problem. They were also generous in asking if we wanted any seconds of any item. The price for the set menu and show was so reasonable. Food is a bit carby but well prepared and tasty. The food is pan African with some of the best dishes across Africa presented. The waitresses, waiters, kitchen staff are from different African countries and wear different national dress. They also sing, dance, drum and engage with the audience very enthusiastically. Even one of the chefs joined in during the last act.

We enjoyed our evening here and wouldn't hesitate to bring overseas friends visiting us here or even some locals for a fun night out. As the menu is set, the food comes quickly, so you can be in and out with a show in 1.5 hours if you are quick.

Gold is a gem of a restaurant. We started with taking a drum lesson which was a hoot! Food was fabulous as was the wine selection! Staff was wonderful and entertainment was lively and fun! They also painted your face if you wished. Couldn't have asked for a more funfilled, enjoyable experience!
