“excellent place to stay in Cape Town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

we arrived quite late on but Katrin was very hospitable- showed us around explained what we needed to know and was on hand should we need anything else. Breakfast was included and was a buffet style, plenty of choice. The terrace over looks the best views of Table mountain and the city- i could even lie in my bath and see the clouds spill over the mountain! The place was clean and clearly run efficiently. I would recommend it- however there is quite a steep hill to get to it- most places with good views in the city tend to be on a good slope- but a taxi from the V and A for example if very cheap. Rooms were modern and spacious, there was a pool too but we didn't have time to take a dip. We booked through a hotels website and out of all the places we booked only Katrin got in touch to confirm the booking and offered helpful advice in advance of our arrival- even started the ball rolling for us to hire a car locally too. Apart from the hill i could not think of a single fault.

This is a very nice and small guest house owned and run with German sense of responsibility and quality by Katrin. This means that the place is spotless and the service is at its best!

Katrin, the owner, and her family live downstair and are always ready to help. I was picked up at the airport by the cab that Katrin has arranged for me and greeted with a glass of chilled white wine by her upon my arrival.

The view from the deck is just spectacular! I spent quite some time on that deck enjoying the breath taking views of the Table Mountain, the Devils Peak, the city bowl and the Bo Caap itself. Bo Caap is a very colorful and vibrant area with small houses painted in different vibrant colors making your every picture - well, picture perfect! ;) The guest house is located approximately 10 min walk (longer on your way up!) from the Long Street (a place to be/see for the tourists) and bus stops and approximately 45 min stroll down to the Victoria and Alberts Waterfront.

There is a small swimming pool at the guest house, laundry service, you can ask Katrin for a wi-fi connection, and breakfast is self catering and consisted of fresh fruits, muesli, cornflakes, yoghurt, milk, muffins, bread rolls, coffee, tea and juice. If you need something - just ask, Katrin is always ready to help.

My room was very nice and clean, with a big comfortable bed, table, a couple of chairs and a closet for my things/clothes. The bathroom was also very clean and towels and soap were provided and changed every day.

Bo Caap is an area with a lot of mosques so I woke up from the minarets a couple of times during the first night, but didn't register it after that during my two weeks of stay.

And did I mention the absolutely fantastic views? :)

Will stay there again!

Katrin and partner run a b&b in Bo kaap which is a vibrant historical part of cape town. It has uninterrupted views of table mountain and the city. Very clean, quite and a pool! What more could you ask for? We will definitely be returning in future!!

The owners are quite friendly and they try to help their guests in every way. Breakfast buffet is nice, including several options and available from early morning till noon. Additionally you can use the kitchen in case you'd like to prepare something by yourself or have tea/coffee at anytime. There is also a shared fridge where each room has its own part. There is one small common balcony with a nice view of city and Table mountain. Depending on the room, several things like the view,size,balcony..etc differs so check this while booking. Rooms are basic but clean.Fan,hairdryer, towels are provided. There is a tourist sightseeing bus stop closer (10 min walk) but only goes one direction.
I found the location a bit far from Waterfront/center by walking (20 min) and the walk is not on a very nice route. There is no public transport. It is also placed at a high spot, which is good for the view but means also a steep street if you walk back. (Taxi from Waterfront costs about 50-60 Rand) It is like a big house where each room is occupied by another guest, therefore sometimes in the mornings it can be a bit noisy E.g: when others having breakfast. TV channels were not showing clearly and had very limited channels anyway. Wireless connection was not very good and only available in a limited area.

Room Tip: room with balcony can be nice
