Very good buffet with lots of choice especially on the desserts. Salads could be a bit more imaginative and there could be more choice on the main courses. (Been twice now and still no fish offered) You can make your own stir fry which they cook for you but the choice of that is also limited with only chicken being offered as the protein on both occasions. Lovely soup and desserts both times.
Tip : Join as a MVG member to get discount on the meal which makes it really excellent value for money

We initially booked our family holiday at the Cabanas in Sun city. A few days before our trip we received a called advising that we were being upgraded to the Sun Soho. We read all the reviews and had high expectations for the hotel. We arrived at our destination and on the 1st day was fairly impressed with the hotel as well as the amenities, however, the next few days our expectations ended with the poor service we received from all the staff at the hotel, restaurants and even the pool area.

There were only 2 people out of the many people that work at the resort that had stood out to us - namely it was Dave, the manager at breakfast, and the second person was Lindi (a very friendly worker)

There were days when we went back to our room in the afternoons and there were no towels. There was one day that our towels was lying in the tub and not the railing!

Turn down is done so early, so most of the days we had to refuse turn down as that was the time we used to get ready for dinner.

The only good thing we enjoyed at the resort was the pool but there too, the service received from the staff at the pool bar was poor. We ordered lunch almost everyday from the pool bar and the waiters used to take their own time in cleaning up the place and due to that the bees used to come. We also witnessed a monkey coming to steal the left over food that other guests had left. On most of the days after lunch when we wanted to order cocktails or dessert, there was always no ingredients, example, ice cream for dessert, no strawberries for daiquiri or even mint for mojito.

As a travel agent I was disgusted with the lack of competence received from the staff at the hotel.

The Soho Hotel at Sun City was recently rebranded as part of a major revamp of Sun City. However the name was the only thing changed at this hotel.

Rooms:

The rooms were spacious and featured lovely views of the gardens around the hotel. However the overall cleanliness of the rooms was far below 4 star standard. There were stains on the floors as well as carpets and the furnishings were tired with signs of wear and tear. The bathrooms, although featuring a stand alone tub, were cramped and also echoed the overall tiredness of the room. The showers were very dirty with mould and mildew all over.

Service:

Service from housekeeping staff was extremely slow and generally stand-offish.

Breakfast buffet:

The one thing that matched its 4star rating was the breakfast buffet, which was a wide and eloborate spread.

Special commendation:

A note to the GM - Mike (front desk manager) managed to redeem the hotel with his excellent and unparalleled service he provided to us. He should belong in a 5star establishment.

It is a pity that Sun International, would see it fit to rebrand a hotel and not see the need to update the hotel itself.

Would I stay here again?

Definitely not.

Visited this hotel in dec 2017..great place..well maintained and at the centre of the sun city...rooms are of average size and the bathrooms did come with bath tub.

The hotel has casino that's open 24 hrs which is an advantage...the hotel also has many restaurants including indian restaurant Raj which provides Indian cuisine..

Overall great place

We stayed for just one night and cursed ourselves for not being there for more.
The Soho is at the centre of every thing here at Suncity.
Houses the grand Casino, and many bars.
Staff are polite and friendly, Rooms are spacious and comfy.
Walking distance to Sun Central and there r shuttles to take u to other places too
