The best hotel I´ve been in South Africa. It is located far away enough to be like an oasis with its "own" lake in the middle of the forest. The rooms are very big, the beds very confortable, the staff is very friendly and attentive, the reception is very well decorated with woods, the dinner-buffet and the breakfast-buffet are like in a dream. Just perfect!

This hotel is about a 50 minute bus ride to Kruger for game drives. The room were clean and overlooked the beautiful grounds. They have a pool and playground equipment for the kids. Breakfast is buffet style and is the nightly dinner. All of the meals were very tasty with a large assortment of foods. The restaurant was quite busy so there were lines to get food items. The staff got our luggage to our room and it was a good thing. We were on the second floor, no elevators, and suitcases were heavy. Staff was so so. and never offered anything interaction with guests. Overall Ok

Wonderful setting on the dam. The rooms were well kept, clean and spacious. Good quality facilities.

Service at breakfast should be improved. The windows in the rooms should not be left opened when the rooms are cleaned, it doesn't make sense when you're in Mpumalanga by a dam (bugs!)

Our Gate 1 group of 36 were based here for three nights while doing our full day game drives in Kruger Park. Located on the bank of Lake Longmore, it is surrounded by beautiful grounds and swards of green. A large patio offers a space where one can sit and sip drinks before dinner while enjoying the serenity of the area. Since this a low risk malarial area, one can feel safe in being outdoors.

The room my spouse and I had overlooking the pool and the lake was spacious, tastefully decorated, and featured two queen beds, a long console/desk, and large TV. The bathroom was also large with a walk-in shower.

Dinner buffets offered a bounty of salads, entrees, and delicious desserts. A decent boxed breakfast was provided during those early mornings when game drives were scheduled.

The down side of this lovely resort is their staff, who are indifferent, unhelpful, sulky and slow. At our first dinner meal I ordered a glass of tap water--TAP WATER--that I finally received after I had finished my meal. At each inquiry I made about the water, I received a dismissive reply of "It's coming." Water should not have taken this long, or been that difficult to obtain from a tap. Other requests, such as for glasses of wine, were met with the same indifference and slowness. On the second dinner we had here, I also requested a glass of tap water with my wine. While the water arrived on time, it was cloudy and tasted very bad. One could not drink it. At each dinner meal I had to seek out the hostess to intervene on behalf of our table. Obviously customer service is not something that takes priority here. This needs to be addressed, the staff retrained.

6 tourist buses stayed as the same time as the Gate1 group.

We were given a room at the furthest end. We could not connect to the wifi at all. I made a fuss and got moved closer. I have to thank Sally, the manager, who made the arrangements to move us closer. On the whole, wifi was very slow.

The room is big and the bathroom is a good size. The toiletries are not that great. Only 2 small bottles of one-in-all shampoo/body wash and 1 small soap. No tissues.

There is no bar fridge. A kettle and small coffee/tea sachets were provided. The tap water was drinkable. No free bottles of water provided.

As this is a tourist hotel, dinners were buffet style, leaning towards American food. Roast beef and pork, bbq ribs (quite delicious), a pasta dish, lots of salads in creamy sauce, rice, chips, bobotjie (mince & egg pie) and a very decent selection of desserts. Red wine was R50 and water at R30. Local Castle beer was R40.

Service was good considering the crowds.

As we had an early game drive, we were given a breakfast box. It had a sandwich, boiled egg, juice box and an apple.

Rooms with uneven numbers faced the lake, with premium views. There was a nice swimming pool and walks on the lake were rather pleasant.
