Awesome stay at the Royal Hotel. Authentic victorian style decorated rooms. Awesome Bar that makes you feel at home. Secure parking. Good food at the restaurant. 100% would come again.
Staff friendly and helpful in all aspects.
Good to know there are still gems like this around.

We 4 had a lovely 2 night stay here. On arrival we asked if they had accommodation available in the main hotel as we were booked in one of the annexes. No problem, the lady at reception moved us. One staff member ran down the street following us as we left, with a pair of binoculars we had forgotten in the bedroom.

We tagged on a visit to Pilgrims Rest, after visiting a game reserve in the area. The surrounding roads weren't great (we spent about 40 min at a road block, but at least they are attempting to improve some of the roads!), but we were pleasantly surprised by Pilgrims Rest upon our arrival. The town is quaint and the locals friendly and there has been a good attempt to keep it in period with the gold mining age. A local dog was our new friend for the duration of our stay and we enjoyed a drink in one of the local pubs and eateries. The hotel room itself was lovely - clean and decorated in the period. Our lounge area smelt a little musty, perhaps the rooms can be aired before occupation. We had plenty of hot water for our bath, but our travelling partners were in a different annex and only managed a luke warm bath. Otherwise all good!
