What a lovely place to stay for a few nights. Hotel was very clean and the food was good. We ate there for 2 nights, one with an included buffet and one where we chose off the menu. Plenty of choice with both. Service was a little slow but it's like that everywhere in South Africa. The icing on the cake were the hippos that came up the river in the evening. Unfortunately it rained both nights so the hippos didn't stay long but it was amazing to see

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of tour group. Great stay, rooms rustic but well equipped and clean. Great walk in shower.
Bar and restaurant VERY reasonable prices, the hotel however stands out because of the staff. Very efficient and most of all very friendly and helpful. Any requests were answered and they liked a bit of banter as well !
Saw a mother and baby hippo walking along the river at night.
Would not hesitate to recommend.
We went as part of a group and had a very good experience at Hippo Hollow.
Our room was nice, with a huge shower, a safe, lots of space, a little patio that was not far from the small swimming pool. The bed was comfortable, everything worked, and the whole complex was very well cared for.
The lobby area was open, and that's where you could access wifi; it's available in the restaurant/bar area too.
All of the food were had at the restaurant was buffet style and there was good variety and it was pretty high quality. One night we had braai and it was excellent. The bar was small but pretty well stocked and there were barstools for that good ol' experience. Breakfasts were good, with hot and cold items available
The only animals we saw on there property were giant yellow and black caterpillars (and I do mean GIANT), a peahen, and elephants in the distance - oh, and birds.
One night while there, we paid extra to see a dance show where the dancers dressed like warriors stomped to drums. It was a very energetic and athletic show. They picked a couple of audience members to join them and dance; that was entertaining.
The main pool was really nice and pretty big. The smaller pool was not cleaned nearly as often but was still pretty nice.
I liked Hippo Hollow and would recommend it.
we loved our room on the Sabie river, the location was very good and we saw the visiting elephants from Elephant whispers, not sure i liked seeing them giving rides to tourists though! no hippos alas!
the food was good and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace watching the river but the room is too dark, needs some renovations! the tiling in the shower makes it feel uninviting, sorry but you need more light tiles and paint as well as better chairs for the room.
overall a great stay though and the staff were lovely.
My sister and I came here for her birthday breakfast. The service was absolutely stunning. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast is delicious. I’m definitely coming back here with the entire family.
Following our journey from the UK, Hippo Hollow was the perfect place to relax and use as a base for our Safari outings with Phabeni Gate providing good access to Kruger park.
We had a beautiful lodge with a view over the Sabie River; we loved the authentic style of our accommodation. The decking area at the rear is just incredible! On the edge of the river, you can sit there anytime night and day and just watch the wildlife come down to the river, we saw Hippos, Elephants and a lot of birds.
The dining experience at the restaurant was superb, the meals were very good.
The whole Hippo Hollow team were super friendly and helpful. We hope to come back.
