The rondavel was bigger than expected, it was romantic, ( candle above bath was a nice idea whilst soaking) practical, had kitchenette ( again bigger than you might think it is going to be) with fridge, micro wave , sink and plates, cutlery etc - outside barbeque. Breakfast on the veranda of the main thatched house was ample and varied, cooked to your choice as well as scones, muffens etc. Restaurant down the road was good - The Ant and Elephant -- lots of choice and a reasonable price. The hosts of Rock-a -Bye were helpful and friendly and gave us an easy to read map of things to do in the area and clear instructions how to get to Elephant Plains our Safari Lodge following our 2 nights stay with them. We would have liked to have stayed longer as there is a lot to do in the area ( we did the Panoramic drive through Blyde Canyon which was spectacular. Nearby there is an Elephant orphanage, umpteen oportunities for the more adventurous traveller -- raft trips, canyon swings, quad biking , hot air ballooning just down the road, as well as cultural visits to Pilgrims Rest and Shangana cultural African Village.
Rock-a-Bye is on a macadaemia nut farm set back from the road and there is plenty of space to walk around the farm and down to the river. We saw lots of monkeys here.
