this camp is amazing !! the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable . the staff at hamilton are thoughtful and very efficient . the meals were probably the best we had on our trip !! we lucked out with with our guide Roel ... he was great ! he answered all our questions and he would stop at even the smallest animals, birds and trees that he thought might interest us.he was very knowledgable ! theres no internet at this camp but its nice in a way ! the results of the presidential election were coming out but roel was really kind to check the radio often for us ! overall an amazing experience and i would highly recommend this camp..there are limited rooms so book fast !!!!!

My husband Peter and myself needed some rest after a stressful and busy year and spent 4 nights at Hamiltons from 16th December. The camp was everything we needed; small, intimate and relaxing. The chalets are beautifully appointed, the food was excellent and the staff are so full of character and life, they made us laugh out loud every day. We had some excellent game spotting and loved also just hanging out by the pool.

The only downside is that we had (it seems) a very inexperienced guide, Steph. When you book a 5-star lodge, you do expect the guide to be knowledgeable and informative. This was not our experience. In fact one night, he got so close to a male lion that the lion mock-charged us, showing his distress about having the game vehicle driven in so close to him. In all our years of bush travel and many experiences, we have never seen this before and it was very upsetting, as it showed Steph had no regard for the lion; he was more interested in pleasing the foreign tourists on the vehicle.

Despite this however, I would still highly recommend the camp.

Stayed 3 nights in a beautiful tented cabin. Huge bed, private balcony with views of critters and birds, and only animal/bird noises. If anything, it's too luxurious for such a location in the middle of wild country. Elevated walkways to main dining/reception area and tiny pool, and taboo to walk them solo at night due to potential big animal encounters. Advertised bush walks were unavailable for same reason, but they were in the process of getting permits for guides/rangers to carry big rifles to protect walkers. The place only has 6 cabins, and were not even fully booked, so it was very quiet. Staff was super-attentive; this is probably what it was like 100 years ago in this region. Included twice-daily game drives with rangers were wonderful; we saw everything except spotted big cats, and ranger was extremely knowledgeable about flora, fauna and birds. Like the Galapagos, everyone should go see this area.

Room Tip: I doubt if there is much difference, but lots of different opinions. I was in #3, and it was fine.

I so wanted Hamilton, but no room in the inn. Decided to stay at Main Jock, I was not disappointed. The luxury cabins, have a private swimming pool on your private balcony overlooking the river basin, where animals cross all the time. You can sit on your balcony and observe elephants, wildebeest and all the great animals of Africa. The food is lovely, the service wonderful. This camp is located in Kruger Park. Go stay and enjoy this wonderful value safari experience.

We had four days and three nights in this luxury tented camp. Meals were superb and elegant. The game drives, no matter what the weather, were exciting. Special thanks to Raul our guide who is knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. My massage the first day was a big help for the jet lag.
