We stayed in tent 2 which had great views (5,6,and 7 are not quite as well positioned).
There is no a/c but we didn't need it. The tent is quite old but very comfortable with good shower/toilet. The deck is lovely. I would not think of staying in the regular rooms as they looked dire with no privacy or deck. You need to be wary as baboons were around and trying to get into the bins. The swimming pool is in the camp ground and did not look too clean so we decided against it. Really enjoyed our two nights here.

Room Tip: Low number tents (we enjoyed number 2). Definitely not the regular rooms.

My son and I spent 5 nights in a "Safari Tent" (permanent tented accommodation) at Punda Maria in far northern Kruger National Park. The camp is small by Kruger standards and this, together with the remote location, ensures that it is quiet and not overrun with traffic. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped with a spacious wooden deck with a full kitchenette and braai and a large fridge (sensibly inside the sleeping area to keep it safe from marauding monkeys). The Punda area is not one of the most game rich parts of the Park (although we did see more buffalo and elephants than I have seen on a Kruger trip), but the different birds and antelope species make it perfect for travellers who enjoy "feeling" the environment as much as ticking off the sightings.

We spent one night in the Russell bungalow at Punda Maria, on our way to Botswana, and it was worth it for the stay in the Russell bungalow. It is huge, and feels very old colonial. Extremely well appointed and comfortable, it is outside the main camp with its own entrance road. You are still within a fence, but that doesn't mean you don't have bush buck walking round the bungalow in the morning. Getting to the restaurant means taking a track past the manager's house to the main camp, so you need a good torch. Well worth visiting.

The guides on our morning walk were excellent. Our tent accomodation was really nice. Loved the deck and the whole experience of being near the fencline and also the bathroom ares. But it may be very hot in summer with no air conditioner.

The staff in the cafe and shop were less than inspiring and found the service and quality of food below average.

Room Tip: tent number 4 is great for privacy but hot with the afternoon sun till the sun goes down. Then it...

We stayed in the tented accommodation, this is the best option the other rooms, nor basic are right at the reception, shop, etc. you also have to walk across the road to use a communal braai and ablutions. The tents are fantastic, great view, privacy and comfort.
