Description: Naturally Portuguese cuisine varies from region to region, but fresh fish and shellfish are found on virtually every menu. The national dish is “Bacalhau”- dried, salted cod. The Portuguese has been obsessed with it since the early 16th century, when their fishing boats reached Newfoundland. The sailors salted and sun-dried their catch to make it last the long journey home, and today there are said to be 365 different ways of preparing it, one for each day of the year. The Portuguese word “tasca” describes quaint cafes, bistros or tavernas. These small, well known restaurants are delightful places to eat. Good food is always prepared with love and consummate skill, using the freshest ingredients available. If the quality of some ingredients are not up to standard, they will not be served. At a tasca we prepare each meal from order, so we ask you to be patient and to relax and enjoy your stay with us the Portuguese way… saude !

Warmly welcomed and seated without delay. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. We had starters and mains which were well presented and extremely tasty. Would throughly recommend and will visit again.

Whenever we are entertaining guests who enjoy shellfish we always choose Atasca in Durban North. The ambiance, service and food taste are constantly good. Other Langos, queen prawns and Chicken on a platter to share. Amazing! Try swimming rice which is not a menu item.

We visited Atasca in Durban North for their Tuesday special and can only say that the food was excellent and service great. Thomas was exceptionally good with his attention to our needs without being overpowering. Strongly recommend a visit.

Had a late lunch with the family, fish cake starter full of potato, sent it back.Wife ordered the lamb chops (3 pieces)with mash. The cuts were extremely thin and fatty. Mash was plain and had no seasoning. Sauce that came with it was lemony??? The quality of the dish does not justify the price. My boy ordered the chicken prego roll. He complained that the chicken was tough. I ordered the half chicken peri peri. Came swimming in sauce that had too much vinegar and salt. Chicken itself was bland and a bit overcooked. My daughter had the fillet steak with a mushroom sauce. The sauce was exactly the same that was served with our prawn starter, except with mushrooms added. Highlight was the fresh Portuguese rolls that were served to us on arrival and the friendly service from our waiter. It's a pity that the seniors on duty did not come around even after we had complained to our waiter. Fat bill for a well below average lunch.

Our first visit to Atasco in Durban North and it did not fail to impress! The welcome was warm and sincere with us being seated at a good table immediately with drinks orders shortly to follow. The decor is a bit of a mix & match probably more than 1 person involved stuck to their own ideas! But its the food we came for. Full chicken peri for me and pasta & calamari for my wife. Both dishes were excellent and portions sufficient. Serving staff were attentive but not over bearing. Greta restaurant,we will return!
