The staff do not care. I do not tip the staff because they are lazy and disinterested. To get a menu, a drink, a meal takes forever. If you want to die waiting come here.

Service fantastic, food excellent and while staying at Bellair Suite we saw no need to go to any other restaurant.

One Friday night we were looking for somewhere for a quick dinner when I said to my wife let us give Café Jiran another chance as we had been disappointed twice before. We went in and found ourselves a seat, received the menus which lacked anything inspiring [in the beginning they were inventive with their cuisine but not any more! - Sad!] and sat and sat.......... after 20 minutes of no service either drinks or food we got up and left. Sorry guys that was your last chance!
Your loss and Havana Grill's gain as we went there for and excellent dinner instead.

The streets nearby all blocked off for a cycle race - getting close to anywhere for a late breakfast was impossible until we remembered Jiran. Although sitting outside can be a bit busy with guests leaving the suites upstairs/cyclists popping in for coffee and the general public going past, it is a great little venue and I wish Durban offered more Cafes like this. Coffee is great - having a double shot is a bargain. My Eggs Benedict style were delicious however the toasted sandwich with side of fries not good - how can a toasted sarmie be so bad? Having said this - Jiran is worth a visit for good coffee and a breakfast.
