We only stayed 1 night at the B&B and we regretted not being able to stay longer. The rooms and bathroom were amazing! The car wash on the morning of our departure was an especially nice touch. We will definitely go back to Milkwood Manor again and again...

We only spent one night at this unique hote on our way from Cape Town to PE, but I wish we could have stayed longer We arrived late but managed to dine in the restaurant which I can heartily recommend. Our comfortable and spotlessly clean room on the first floor overlooked the sea and we left the curtains open so we could experience a wonderful African sunrise over the water.

Rising early (abougt 5.30am to get sunrise pix),) we were surprised to see our car being washed and the flag being hoisted up the flagpole.

The frendly owner was very welcoming and helpful, he offered advice on local attractions and even provided printed sheets with directions on how to get there.

Great breakfast with as much as we could eat. Then reluctant to leave, we walked through the gardens and across the bay before heading off. This was one of my most memorable stopovers in South Africa. I cannot recommend Milkwood Manor highly enough. I brought fond memories of this hotel and its fantastic setting back home to the UK. Wish we could have spent more time there.

Found Milkwood Manor by chance when we stopped at the adjacent restaurant for lunch. Very welcoming and helpful staff and friendly owner. A beautiful view from our room and a lovely breakfast the next morning. Would love to have stayed longer if we'd had the time.

We stayed for 2 nights at Milkwood Manor at the end of September, 2011.

Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly by Margaret and Kase, the manager and the owner. Very sweet people. We were assigned to Room 2 which is right off the entrance and we were wary that it would be too loud. The room is nice, a bit on the dated side but the patio is it's best feature. It is right by the lagoon and in the mornings really enjoyed sitting out there before breakfast. IN the evenings, we did hear people coming and going but it wasn't a major issue, just the walls and floors being old.

The manor provides wonderful service such as a car-washing service each day and ability to have bookings for local attractions and as they have a good reputation, Margaret was able to get us reservations whereever we requested and they were very knowledgeable about local things to see and do.

They also provide a kayak which my husband and I used but it was a little bit scary especially with the way the currents are but for the adventurous it would be fun to try as the place is VERY quiet and subdued.

The breakfast was nice but nothing to write home about as other places we stayed in S. Africa had similar if not better breakfasts available. We just found the omelettes to be a bit on the greasy side but the service was excellent and we never felt anxious to ask for anything as the hosts/servers were so gracious.

We never tried their restaurant but it did seem to be popular but closed quite early. The one night we went for drinks, we were the only ones there.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay, VERY relaxing, wonderful hosts and excellent service. We would love to go back but as Plettenburg Bay was so quiet I think we may visit Knsyna or Wilderness instead next time.

Room Tip: Room 2 has amazing patio and a nice-sized bathroom but it is loud at night because you can hear peop...

It's so rare to get more than you expected from a hotel. Milkwood Manor delivered in every way - great service, beautiful, clean room, stunning views, and delicious breakfast. Our dusty car was even washed! We will most definitely be back, and this time extend our stay - we sadly only spent one night there on this visit, but we'll be back soon. Thank you to Kees and all the staff who made us so welcome

Location: The most enviable location on the Garden Route. At the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, jutting into the ocean - any closer and you would be in it! - as well as the estuary of a large lagoon- no neighbours but nature! Exquisite, unimpeded 180 views (360 from the roof deck) of the vast blue ocean, golden beaches, large lagoon and the imposing Tsitsikamma Mountain Range. Nature all'round, yet not isolated, but only a 2-minute drive from the town centre and its trendy shops.A pristine beach: accessible from the sheltered cove adjacent to the Manor - ideal for swimming in natural water – you may boat across to an unspoiled and usually deserted beach, far from built-up areas, traffic, crowds and noise. Blissful solitude and a complete immersion in nature, with only the sound of white-crested surf tumbling at one’s feet and the calls of a medley of seabirds – a veritable bird sanctuary. Becalming and rejuvenating - the perfect antidote for stress,. With luck you may even find the mysterious and sought-after pansy shell (sand dollar). The Manor: built in classic Georgian style, with an airy double-volume foyer and eleven double bedrooms, most with private patio or balcony. All rooms are decorated in crisp white and en-suite to a shower cubicle with/without bath, and a queen bed or twin beds, TV-hospitality package, free uncapped Wi-Fi, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, fan, heater and hairdryer.
