“Nice property - good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2012

Bisbee is an odd little town – with lots of charm and a bit of weird all stirred together. The Gym Club Suites fits this description perfectly. It is located in a great spot – just in the front end of town, an easy walk to the Queen Mine and all the stores and restaurants. It is very clean and well maintained. We had the Raven’s Rest, a suite on the 4th floor which was terrific – a three level layout with a balcony. For the two of us it was a lot of space, and after a full day of activity it was extremely comfortable. It had a living room, a full kitchen (with coffee), and two bedrooms – plus the deck. Be aware that the entire suite is an open floorplan - if you looking for a true two bedroom this is not the place for you. We would absolutely stay there again. One thing to note – check in is not until 3:00, and at this hotel that means there is no one on site until then. So if you need alternate arrangements be sure to inquire when you reserve the room.

We went to Bisbee, AZ with friends and made reservations for 2 nights at The Gym Club by phone with Angel. It is a former WMCA building converted into suites and was clean, large and well located. The kitchen, which we did not use, was larger than most apartment kitchens. We found that we were not able to stay 2 nights and in spite of their 48 hour cancellation policy, Angel immediately changed us to one night with no penalty. This is something a chain operation may not do so easily. Although there are two bedrooms, there is only one bathroom and I would not recommend this arrangement for other than a family group since the master bedroom does not close off and when the folks in the second bedroom need to use the bathroom during the night, they will have to go through the master bedroom. Other than this, the place was great.

Stayed at this facility with my daughter. It is a very unique hotel. Only 16 rooms have been converted from a gym. Our room was main floor, bath in the middle level and second bedroom as a loft. It is brick and was hard to get warm but once heated up, it was very comfortable. We checked in late in the afternoon and that was the only time we saw anyone from the hotel. The room was not cleaned while we were there. There was only one window in our room, room 205 so I missed being able to see outside. There were skylights. You could live there with the refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Comfortable couch and beds. Right in the middle of Old Bisbee.

Room Tip: Room 205 was good for us with the separate sleeping areas. It was the end of the hall and very quie...

My wife and I signed up for the hotel for two nights through "Living Solutions" and reserved the 4th floor, "Raven's Roost," room #402. The room was tremendous and had a loft with a queen sized bed and a door that led outside to the most fabulous view of the city and surrounding mountains. The downstairs had a fully stocked kitchen and up a few short stairs was the main bedroom with a another queen sized bed. The staff had left us a bottle of wine, cookies and some fruit as part of our reservation. The weather was rainy and nasty but the room was warm and we enjoyed being out of the cold weather. When it cleared, we found the hotel to be located in very close proximity to the main part of town, shops, galleries, and excellent restaurants. Everywhere you walk is history and nostalgia as well as clean and fresh air. The city of Bisbee is at 5300+ feet elevation and it took us only a short while to adjust to the altitude. Expect to do alot of walking, some of it up and down stairs. But it is very doable and there is nobody rushing you anywhere. It is only 26 or so miles from the old town of Tombstone, so a trip to Bisbee should also include that area. Hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. I will have no problem bringing my grandchildren back to this historic area and will stay at the Gym Club suites.

Room Tip: 4th floor if available. Hotel has a elevator which goes to the 3rd floor. You have to walk up stai...

Our room was a 2 bedroom suite, no balcony. For the money I would have stayed at the Eldorado Suites (stayed there a couple times and loved it), but it was booked. My bed seemed to not be flat (it was on an incline from wall to center of room, from one side to the other side of the bed). I am not sure I ever fell asleep. Elevator was better than trudging up stairs with bags. Kitchen and bathroom were OK. Overall just didn't meet my expectations. I travel (way too much) world wide and experience many hotels. Some seem to "get it" and others don't - including Gym Club. This place seemed to just be providing the required items. There was no charm. I'd pass on staying here again.
