Our stay at the Log Cabin Wilderness Lodge 3 weeks ago continues to be the story that we tell over and over to our family & friends. It was truly the highlight of our 16 day trip! We only regret that we didn't spend at least two nights...John & Jill are just amazing hosts. You will not regret it if you want a taste of true Alaska interior!

My father and I recently stayed at the Log Cabin Wilderness Lodge while traveling on a motorcycle trip through Alaska. Unlike most, our stay there wasn't planned. We just stumbled on it, after seeing a small sign on the highway. Boy, are we glad we did (and that there was availability).

What a terrific place. The grounds are beautiful and the setting is incredible. The main house and a couple of cabins were built by the owners, and are very impressive. The workmanship and attention to detail shows throughout. Fine touches everywhere.

If the place itself wasn't enough reason to be there, the hosts, John and Jill, are two of the best I've had in all my experiences of traveling. Really takes their lodge from being an outstanding setting to an outstanding experience.

... and if that wasn't enough, the dinner and breakfast were outstanding.

I'll be returning to Alaska with my wife, and this will definitely be one of our destinations. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Stayed in one of the two main cabins, which was outstanding.

This lodge is beautiful and is run by awesome people. John and Jill make you feel at home from the first minute. They are living their dream, and want to share that. So they like to spend time with you during breakfast ad diner (obviously, if you like that) and they will also share their tools and toys with you. We used the sauna, snowshoes, fat bikes, snowmobile and had we had a little more time, ski's. The meals, tools and toys don't cost extra. We had two nice days where we climbed a mountain near the lodge. The cabins are basic but clean and cozy. Good beds. The wood burner will keep you warm for sure and the outhouse is never far away :-) Unfortunately no northern lights while we visited. Also, if you reserve at least a week in advance, they will fire up the hot-tub. Bathing in open air while it is 10 degrees! This is a beautiful place with stunning views every where you look. Don't let the higher cost per night scare you away because you will get a lot in return!

This is worth the splurge. Given that the price includes a lovely dinner & a very hearty breakfast, after dinner entertainment and that you are in Alaska, the price is quite reasonable. The after dinner ATV ride to the Beaver dam so much fun. John & Jill are knowledgeable hosts & enjoy sharing their stories.
My little brother, Cabana Boy, was especially enthralled as he was able to sleep with his peeps inside the very cozy & warm cabin.

A juwel in the wildernis. The best lodge we've ever stayed in the U.S.

John and Jill have built a "castle" in a beautiful surrounding, spacy, very clean, organized and guarded by Yukon, the watchdog. Excellent food, nice cabins to stay in with an oven and everything you want!

Great place - hope to be back one day!
