Although we usually dont stay at B&B's, I am so glad we did! Alaska was terribly expensive and it was hard to find rooms with queen beds so we stayed here. Room rates for the B&B were that same as the hotel rates in the same area. The beds were wonderful! First good nights sleep in 10 days. We had 2 rooms for our family. the Montana was upstairs, had its own entrance, its own glassed in sunroom overlooking the river (AWESOME view) and could sleep 3. The McKinley room on the main floor, also had its own entrance and sunroom, had a jacuzzi tub, with a queen bed. Breakfast was good, fresh fruit, homemade muffins and a hot breakfast. Very clean and elegant. Negatives...hmmm...had to take our shoes off inside, but that also meant everything stayed wonderfully clean.
Although we werent right in Talkeetna (the B&B is about 14 miles from the town) I found that to be a blessing. Talkeetna is a touristy little town, too busy for my tastes but a fun stop none the less. Had lunch up at the lodge and had our first glimpse of Mt. McKinley which is twice as tall as the mountains around them. 2 hours to Denali Park, 90 minutes to Anchorage.
