“Feel like a local”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

A lovely pension built directly into the walls of Sighisoara and a perfect place to stay to discover Sighisoara which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was very hot in July and the rooms are small, but the window let in a nice breeze. The breakfast had 9 different local cheeses and about 6 different salamis, the coffee was good and there was a selection of breads and cereals.

My husband and I have traveled to many different places in the world, the Pension am Schneiderturm is one of our favorite places to stay. The owner (Sorin) is a terrific host who goes above and beyond. The central location is so convenient. Like so many other guests (as you can read in the reviews), we very much liked the breakfast. It gave us the opportunity to taste local fresh food such as elderberry juice, local cheeses as well as salami from bear and boar just to name some of our favorites (delicious). We truly enjoyed the conversations we had with Sorin and the other guests from many different countries during breakfast time and in the evenings on the terrace (with complementary local wine or brandy). Beautiful and relaxing place, definitely the No. 1 !!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite (only one available) which was the largest room and was very spacy.

Some hosts really know what guests are looking for and Sorin is one of these who helps make your stay extra special. He is has a wealth of information, is very obliging, arranging maps, tours, taxis etc. He also serves the most wonderful breakfasts. A wide range of organic food, delicious chutneys, cheeses, meats, jams, fruits and more. It was lovely to enjoy fresh milk, eggs and other farm produce and to top it off guests are invited to join Sorin for a glass of locally made wine in the evenings. A great opportunity to meet up with fellow travellers.

The double rooms were booked out for the annual medieval fair so I was accommodated in a singe room. Despite its small size the room was quiet, comfortable, clean and provided everything I needed, including an attached bathroom. The double rooms looked lovely and roomy and if I visit Sighisaura again Pension am Schneiderturm would be at the top of my list.

After having read the many positive comments about this pension within the medieval citadel of Sighisoara I decided to give it a try!
I am NOT sorry.
The location, the actual building but mostly the warm and caring attention given by Sorin the proprieter was 5*****!
He is a wealth of informtion giving information in many languages when I asked him where to buy wine he commented "when you are here you buy no wine I will give you wine!"
great attention given to every aspect of this accommodation which has made it amongst my favourites.
Multsumesc Sorin I would return to Sighisoara just to stay here with you.

Room Tip: Know that the rooms are very comfortable but small especially the single one

Warmest welcome, convenient location, obliging English speaking host, loads of info about the area, excellent breakfast, clean & roomy. This is one to return to again & again & again! Although I can be very critical, there was nothing to find fault with here!
