This is the fourth hotel in kovalam we have stayed at and is best far the best value for money. The hotel is well situated near the beach. The staff where all polite and helpfull throuhout our 2 week stay. We had english style breakfast every morning at the resturant which is situated next to the swimming pool. We paid a 25 percent deposit to secure the room and when we asked when they wanted remaining payment was told anytime during holiday would be OK. If I was too find any faults the only ones are the hotel is situated close to a temple and some people may find the music annoying but it is not too loud and it is their town. Also it is not obvious who if anyone is in charge if you needed to complain. As stated we were all happy with Hotel and will be going back next year.

We stayed at Moonlight for 1 night in Feb 2011– was accompanied by my wife and mother. Am summarizing the positives and negatives about the place:

The positives
1. The Manager (Anand, I think, but am not sure) gave us (without any haggling or persuasion from our end) a significant discount on one of our rooms by not charging us for the previous day (since we checked in about 5-6 hours before the usual check in time of 12 noon). Please note – he did so un-asked. So imagine what a pleasant surprise i got when i went to settle the bill.
2. Service – Courtesous ; in fact compared to the other places in kerala where we stayed, the service here was the quickest.
3. We loved the tea we ordered in the morning to our rooms before breakfast
4. The hotel arranged for an amazingly helpful and extremely punctual driver as well – The gentleman has just had a surgery in the mouth and hence does not talk much.
5. No wi-fi but there is a PC downstairs that is connected - its free.
6. Very clean and large rooms (Rooms 303, 304)– The ACs were powerful – mattresses were just perfect – we slept well.
7. Though the rooms are not sea facing, we were impressed by the spacious balconies overlooking some greenery attached to both rooms 303 and 304 fitted out with swings and rocking chairs. Was very pleasant in the evenings with a breeze going on.

Negatives
1. The 2 rooms (303 and 304) we occupied did not have a view of the beach – in fact i believe none of the rooms have a sea view.. This should not matter much since this place is located a few minutes away from the beach anyways.
2. The complimentary breakfast the hotel provides lacks much variety – while we understand the reason it contains mostly bread toast and cereal and other usual western fare to cater to the large majority of international tourists, but perhaps some Indian vegetarian options such as parathas, puri sabji, appams, dosas and idlis would have been more welcome. We decided therefore to junk the complimentary breakfast and instead take a 10 minute walk to Lonely Planet, the best known veggie restaurant near Kovalam beach.

Overall – won’t mind staying here again if i happen to go back to kovalam.

A good value 3 star back from the beach at Kovalam. Rooms at the front have the sunset and the view of the road(not too noisy) and at the back a coconut grove. Great spacious rooms-very grand balconies with pillars and hanging chairs. We recommend 301 at the front. AC a bit noisy and iffy. Management quietly helpful. Pleasant pool with shade away from the blasting of the sun sand and salt of the beach. Only ate breakfast-a little tricky to get the eggs quite right. Have stayed here two years running and would go back.

This place was very clean and the service very attentive. It is about 5 minutes walk from the main part of the beach, and does't have a view, but this was made up for by the staff and cleanliness. Rooms well laid out, with balconies and good bathroom. The pool was great for kids.
