This is 100% my type of bar. If I lived here this would no doubt be the place I would go on a regular basis. I am sure there are other cool bars in town but I don't see how anything could beat this. From the front it looks like some old junky place but only one part of that is true. It is old, it's an old authentic saloon. It is clean but shows it age. In a good way. You can tell this is not a new place made to look old. It has that genuine old historic feel. It is dark and wooden with fun paintings of scantily clad women. They have a full bar and I was happy to see plenty of local craft beers on tap. The service was good and I was pleased to hear that it was also a locals bar in addition to having it's fair share of tourists.

Needed a place to stop in at the end of the day, have a drink, relax in a quiet atmosphere, and catch up via wifi. The Alaskan bar met all our needs, and more so. Really our kind of place and if you like old, quiet bars with a lot of character, this is the one.

There are bars selling t-shirts and souvenir shops all over the place in this main part of Juneau. The Alaskan Bar was less hectic, not pushing any merchandise, just a place to hear some good live music and get a drink. It's an old saloon atmosphere and the bartenders were friendly and provided good service. Easy walk from the cruise ship dock. Plenty of room when we came around 6pm. Good local beer selection.

Old time bar, not worth the time. Had a beer in the afternoon. A few locals how had had too much to drink already. Not a place for youngsters. Sure would not stay in their rooms.

This was recommended to us by a local, which we always enjoy. This is a turn of the century bar and hotel that is supposedly haunted. The person making the recommendation swore it was, anyway. Prices were not too far off what you might find at home; definitely not as high as many touristy places. There is live music most days from what we understand. The day we visited they had a great bluegrass band. If you're looking for something not so touristy and where locals go, I definitely recommend The Alaskan Bar. It is only a few blocks away from the Red Dog Saloon (which was so packed they were turning people away) and definitely worth the couple extra steps.
