“Great apartments and location ”

We had two apartments as we have three teenagers.
We loved our time here with the pool and easy access to the beach.
It was a great location and had good cooking facilities so we could self cater or walk to a couple of local restaurants.
Loved the nice touch of a carton of milk, breakfast cereal and muffins on arrival.
We snorkelled from here and a bit down the road at A’Roa.
Eve and Brent were helpful with local places to eat or places to shop.

“Just like home..”
Reviewed 28 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

We had a three bedroom apartment which was well appointed and had start up provisions provided which was well appreciated.
The rooms we were in backed on to the main road which made them a little noisy at night/ early morning.( I dont care if I never hear another rooster !)
The rooms themselves were a little smaller than they appeared in the advertising and because we had 4 (adult) children, one had to sleep on the downstairs sofa due to there being two double beds upstairs. Not a biggie overall but just somthing to be aware of.
The pool got a lot of use as did the barbeque area which we cooked on daily..
Very handy location to the main township and also other smaller grocery outlets.
A short walk on grass to the beach area with possibly some of the best sunset views available..
Overall good vale for a larger group..

“A great self catering option on this idyllic island”

We arrived very late at night and as we had booked a rental car we drove the 5 kms to the apartment where access was arranged in advance and some basic food and drinks items had been provided. Note that if arriving late on a Saturday most food shops will be closed the following day and there is no sale of wine or beer on a Sunday anywhere on the island. The apartment itself was very comfortable, open plan living room with sofa, two easy chairs, coffee table, a dinning kitchenette which was fully equipped for self catering, a table with 4 chairs for dinning. The bedroom had a queen sized bed (very comfortable) and a good sized wardrobe. The bathroom/wc was of a good size and the shower was powerful and reliably hot. Air conditioning worked well after Bob had quickly fixed an initial problem. He provided us with a local cell phone on arrival and was on hand throughout our stay for advise and help if we needed it. Nothing was too much trouble. The outside space contained a table and 4 chairs for al fresco dinning and 2 sun loungers. The pool was right there in front of the apartment, about 1 metre deep and so warm. There was a laundy available next to the site office, only a small charge for each load of washing. Also available was snorkelling gear, a couple of canoes and a selection of DVDs. Beach access was 50 metres away from the back of the apartment, white sand and palm trees, lovely. Even better swimming beachs a short drive away at Aro 'a (opposite the Dive Centre) and at Muri where most of the hotels and tourist activities are based. Arorangi where Coral Sands is situated is on the west of the island (beautiful sunsets) and is conveniently located a short drive away from the main town of Avarua where there is an excellent supermarket and a local market on Saturday mornings, well worth a visit. If staying at Coral Sands I would say that some form of motor transport (rental car or scooter) is essential although the local round the island bus service is also good. We found that exploring the interior of the island by car and by a landrover tour up into the hills was a must do activity. Near Coral Sands, a very short walk away we found the best restaurants to be the Waterline 100 metres North and Crusoes at the Castaway resort 250 metres South. Best bar was Wilsons beach side bar again at the Castaway resort. I would have no hesitation in recommending Coral Sands as excellent value for money self catering accommodation away from the main tourist part of the island.

“Idyllic destination with perfect accommodation for our family reunion”
Reviewed 16 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Coral sands was a perfect choice of accommodation for our extended family reunion consisting of 4 individual families, totalling 16 guests from 2 generations (youngest 16- oldest 60). The 4 x 1 bedroom apartments suited the parents of the group whilst the the 2 x 3 bedrooms were perfect for the cousins. The apartments were clean (the actual appartments were not cleaned daily but towels etc were changed as required), well maintained and equipped for self catering, and the BBQ area was fantastic for family dinners after a very rewarding fishing trip. The hosts Bob and Karen were extremely helpful in transfers to and from the airport and flexible with check in and check out based on the times of our flights from Sydney, they were also a wealth of local knowledge, tips and advice. The property is beach front, but can't be seen from individual apartments, you can swim snorkel and kayak however there are much better areas for these activities further round the Island. There is a convenience store within 2 mins walk and larger supermarkets a little further away there are also a few nice restaurants and bars for sunset drinks in walking distance . Our group hired a minibus, car and scooters for transportation at very minimal prices but there is a local bus service that goes both ways around Rarotonga that will get you to and from other places of interest.

Relaxed journey through customs meet two bright cheerful people Bob and Karen even though it was 1.45am
We drove to a place known on the Island as The Whitehouse (part of Coralsands on the same residence of the owners)
Our family stayed in the very private self contained holiday apartment with use of the swimming pool - snorkelling gear or a lazy time in deckchairs by the pool also use of the BBQ discovered BBQ bananas YUM :)
Only a short walk to the beach absolutely beautiful and booked kids in for scuba diving while down there
With help from Bob and Karen we felt we saw everything and some there hospitality was amazing and left Rarotonga with two new friends
