Don't believe the pictures you see on the website of this resort, they must be years old. This resort is very tired and desperate need of some tlc. The managers were very nice and greeted us on arrival but I guess they can only do so much when the owner won't spend any money on the place!

We had a beachfront bungalow which was spacious and clean with a lovely view of the lagoon. Beware the prevailing winds we could only sit on our deck on 2 out of 5 days due to the 50k winds, definitely check the wind direction before booking what side of the island you stay on!!! Our room was only cleaned once while we were there. Clean towels every day and the bed made, but thats about it, no floors swept no sinks wiped down no dead flowers taken away. The Tv situation was pretty sad, maybe 6 stations with bad reception. Some bungalows had lots of stations with great reception, some had 1 station. No free wifi.

The Flying Boat restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the food was ok, the drinks not so cheap, the service was good. They tell you breakfast is included but that does not include any hot food. The buffet breakfast was probably the worst I've seen. We ended up going to the Koru cafe for a decent breakfast which is just a 5 min walk off the island. There is no tap water served with meals you have to buy a bottle of water $7.50, there are no cushions on the cane chairs, the floors aren't cleaned from the night before. We spent more time eating and drinking at the Boatshed Restaurant just a short walk off the island.

There is a guest laundry available, $8 for a wash and another $8 to dry. The grounds around the bungalows are kept pretty tidy. They definitely need more lighting at night. Also there is absolutely no beach on the island to lie on except for a tiny 10m sq at one end. They don't show that in the photos!

It's a shame this review is so bad. The position of this resort is perfect, the lagoon is amazing, the staff are friendly and helpful. We expect to pay more to stay on a tropical island and understand the reasons why but this place is a complete rip off. We have never been so disappointed and let down in a resort.

If we ever go back to Aitutaki again we'll stay at the Pacific Resort. At least they give a glass of water and a cushion to sit on!!!

Kia Orana Louise,
Thank you for your review and staying with us at Aitutaki lagoon Resort & Spa.
Yes the position of the resort is perfect, the lagoon amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful and I am pleased to read your comments on the overwater bungalow. Unfortunately the weather was not very co-operative during your stay therefore limiting the outdoor time for activities and general relaxation.
I note your remarks on the bungalow services and I will discuss this with the house keeping department. Tv service is provided by a local company and the reception is also weather dependant, but I will ask our engineers to check this area. Being a small, remote island location internet is not able to be provided for free unlike a main urban resort.
I am pleased to read you enjoyed the atmosphere at our Flying Boat restaurant and the service was good. As part of the resort stay package we provide a complementary tropical buffet which offers many choices of fruits, cereals, juices, speciality breads, pancakes, waffles, Danish pastries, sliced ham, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, tea/coffee and our special drinking coconuts so I find your comment that the buffet was very bad rather harsh as a majority of our guests remark how much they enjoy their morning meal. Our a la carte cooked breakfast is very similar in choice and price to our neighbours and readily available each morning
The restaurant is swept each evening before dinner but during the day many guests come from the beach and leave wet sand on the deck. The grounds team do a good job of keeping the property clean and tidy and I will talk with the engineers about more lighting.
Kuriri point is a favourite location with our guests for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing and is a wonderful location for lunch and dinner. Your comment about the place being a complete rip off is a personal judgement and I do not agree with your assessment.
It is a shame the review is so bad as a lot of the issues you raised could have been addressed whilst you were here. Sue and I enjoy greeting everyone visiting the Island and during our welcome address we encourage our guests to request our assistance for any matter of concern. Sue and I also farewelled you both and there was no mention of the issues you encountered.
Warm regards,
Mark, Sue and the Team

This is so well located on an exclusive island with lagoon all around that you feel like been in Paradise every where you walk around .
The hammocks have been so placed to make you dreamy while appreciating the nature's hues of water .
Rooms are spacious too .
Activities can be booked through the reception .
The Manager is particularly courteous to receive and see off the guests personally and takes interest in each guest's stay .
That said a few thing need to be taken care lest this paradise does not remain one for long .
One their staff is hesitant to work ..everything works at holiday pace that guests like us who pay hefty amount for the stay need service and prompt attention .
Breakfast doesn't really start at 7.30 a.m. which is what they should when they have announced their timings which are already quite late .
The name has Spa and Resort but there is no Spa in the resort .
Then no bottled water is served which is very upsetting for a resort on a beach charging big money and making fat profits from water bottles ..this is basic and must be provided and come within the price of the room tariffs .
Sleeping mattresses in the room need replacement as one sinks into these too soft beds not good for health .
Wifi is very expensive and is not free.
All in all the stay was a great experience and we loved every bit of it except above issues that management needs to iron out .

Kia Orana Pilgrim_gsa,
Thank you for your review and staying with us at Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa. Your comments on the beauty of the lagoon are well justified as the lagoon is simply magnificent and the hammocks do get a very good workout. Water sports and other activities are very popular, with many of our guests taking the kayaks and snorkelling equipment off to one of the small islands located in the lagoon to explore.
I will discuss your concerns about staff attention to my department heads and closely monitor our breakfast times. We provide jugs of cold water in the bungalow refrigerators which are replenished each day and as mentioned in previous reviews we are currently advertising for a qualified spa therapist. In our daily news letter we advise our guests that we can arrange spa treatments at another resort and provide complementary transfers. Sue did explain to you why the wifi is expensive in the Cook Islands.
I am please to read your closing remarks that you had a great experience and loved every bit of your vacation.
Warm regards,
Mark, Sue and the Team.

Wow is the first word out of my mouth as we entered the Pacific Resort. The staff treated us like royalty and catered for every need. The resort itself is beautiful, the lagoon breathtaking. Would we return, absolutely. Rooms lead to a balcony then onto the beach.

Room Tip: Every room is brilliant, feels like you have your own private beach

From the minute we were greeted at the airport to the moment we bid farewell we truly thought we'd been sent to heaven. The location, the staff and amenities were incredible. The staff were all very accommodating and the food and beverage team ensured my wife who is a coeliac was totally catered for all meals at the Resort. The kayaks. SUP and snorkelling gear were all plentiful in supply and in great condition. Would also recommend taking the Te Vaka snorkelling cruise - this day cruise will pick you up at 10am from the Resort and drop you back at 4pm. Time on the boat is both entertaining and educational.
Go to Aitutaki if you are looking for a couples escape from the day to day norm. Thoroughly recommended

Kia Orana crc33,
Thank you for your review and staying with us at Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa. I am very pleased to read your comments on the fine efforts of our F&B team and you enjoyed the water sports. You mentioned the 3 key elements of the resort, location, staff and amenities and those combined with stunning beauty of the lagoon ensures our visitors of a memorable "Aitutaki Experience". The lagoon cruises as you said are both entertaining and educational and always a good taking point between guests over a cold beer or cocktail on the deck of the beach bar after retuning home.
Thank you again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back to our "little slice of heaven"
Warm regards,
Mark, Sue and the Team

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the resort. Staying in a beach front bungalow facing the magnificent Lagoon. Our bungalow was spacious and one of the most comfortable beds l have slept in. The outdoor shower was great and very private. You can do as much or as little as you like with bikes, kayaks and paddle boards all available for use. The Flying Boat Beach Bar and Grill was first class and loved the choices on the menus. A BIG thank you to the bar staff, waitresses, who were friendly and always made us feel welcome, they are a credit to the resort.
