Owner description: We invite you to book a Kia Orana morning or afternoon speedboat cruise (for up to 10 people) when you come to Aitutaki. Whether you are an individual or a couple, a wedding party, or a group of friends, cruising around the Lagoon and visiting One Foot Island, and Honeymoon Island is one of the most memorable things to do in the whole of the Pacific. We cruise to what we call "the seven wonders of paradise", and every island has something special to see and experience.

No visit to Aitutaki is complete without a day out on it's beautiful crystal blue lagoon. There are several operators offering very different experiences, and this time (our second visit to Aitutaki), and on local's recommendation, we chose Kia Orana Cruises.
We were picked up from our accommodation by Captain Fantastic, who lived up to his name. The tour offers to take you to 7 motus (small islands), but to be honest I lost count after 4. Our speedboat transported us quickly between our island stops, meaning that we could get there before the other boats and each time we had the whole island to ourselves.
Captain Fantastic gives an informative commentary on the history and cultural significance of each location, something you may not get with other bigger tours.
Most tours include a delicious island lunch of fresh cooked fish & salads, but the others don't offer the musical accompaniment of Captain Fantastic, a ukulele and some local tunes.
Throw in a couple of snorkelling stops, (with Giant Trevally and the beautiful tropical fish you would imagine) and it's an amazing day out.
If you are looking for a small group tour (max 10-12 people) this is the best that you will find on Aitutaki, especially if you want to visit the stunning One Foot Island without the "crowds".
10/10 for Captain Fantastic and a relaxing day in paradise!!

Went with Captain Fantastic on a wonderful day tour through the Aitutaki Lagoon!
First of all he was super quick in responding to my email inquiry that I only sent to him 2 days prior to arrival. Confirmation was quick and he agreed to pick us up at the Cruise Ship landing spot.
Arrived and there stood Andrew, waiting for us.
We went out with his covered speedboat and Captain Fantastic made sure that we would see 7 islands in about 6 hours - and this before they were crowded with other tourists.
We were a total of 8 passengers (maximum capacity) and each had enough space to store our bags/ belongings. Off we went to the first couple of islands that were all different (some consisted of volcanic rocks and others were simple little sandbanks with a couple of tiny palm trees).
On "One Foot Island" we got to walk around while Andrew went ahead to get everybody's passport stamped.
One of the highlights was the delicious lunch buffet that he had prepared for us in just under 30 minutes. It consisted of freshly caught parrot fish, an abundance of fresh fruit, breadfruit salad (very similar to potato salad) and even some sort of a doughnut pastry. Served and presented in giant clam shells and on palm leaf plates. The food was exceptional and afterwards we went snorkeling at the reef. Perfect for people who like shallow and deep water as it is sitting right next to a sandbank. Andrew "walked" his boat over the sandbank, followed by his pet fish KONG KONG, who joined us the entire time. The snorkeling spot was fantastic, as we got to see the giant clams in just 3-6 feet depth.
Would go back any time. Captain Fantastic is the right name for Andrew! Highly recommended!

We had such an amazing day out with Captain Fantastic. Words can't describe how amazing the scenery is.

The captain lived up to his name. Not only skippering the boat, but sung songs, told informative stories, and cooked an absolutely delicious lunch on a small tropical island.

We even got to plant a coconut tree. Will have to go back to see it when it grows.

My partner and I agreed that this was our best ever day travelling.

One of our highlights on Aitutaki was going to be a Lagoon Cruise. We did all the research and chose Kia Orana. We notified them when we arrived at the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort. The next day we went to the pickup area and waited for an hour. We finally called the front desk of our hotel and they called the operator. They were then told the boat was broken and wouldn't be going out. If we had known sooner we could have tried to find another cruise, We were never notified that the cruise had been canceled. I understand "Island time" but this is a small boat and they wouldn't have had to call too many people.

We loved our day out exploring the islands and snorkeling . With a faster boat you get more time to explore both in and out of the water. Two amazing snorkeling spots with giant clams and many colorful fish. Also a great way to meet other travelers. Our captain who we nicknamed captain awesome (captain fantastic's right hand man) was excellent. Loved the tasty lunch with smoked parrot fish and bbq banana. Highly recommended.
