We were staying in the nearby Hotel Aranjuez and needed somewhere to eat dinner - this is just a few doors down, and was recommended by the hotel staff. The restaurant was pretty empty so I didn't have high hopes, but I was SO wrong. Everything we ordered was delicious and prepared to a very high standard - my boyfriend had the garlic chicken, I had the spanish omelette and we shared a paella. The portions for the first two dishes were huge, and we left very satisfied. Not hugely cheap, but not expensive for the quality of food either.

The restaurant was recommended to us by the staff at the Hotel Aranjuez to get a bite to eat and a cold beverage while we were waiting for our room to be available. We enjoyed our tapas so much that we decided to return that night for dinner. The paella was delicious. It was a Saturday night and not very busy so I hope more people seek this place out so it will stay in business.

Don't go to CR for the food, but here is proof you can find fine dining there.
Run by Alejandro (call me Alex) and his wife, this Spanish place is a little pricey but
worth it for tasty imaginative food cooked to perfection. Tapas 3000/6000 ($6/12) entree 5500/
15000 ($11/30) a very nice glass of white for 3000. Alex spent 15+ years working
for others and came away with a fine sense of food and wine and a genuine desire to
share it with others. Located a block from the hospital (near Parque Nacional), it is unassuming
on the outside, but lovely and comfy on the inside. For me it is a destination restaurant, but if your near the University, Barrio Aranjuez or Amon stop by it is open for lunch too.

Looking for somewhere local to eat close to Hotel Aranjuez we found this Spanish Restaurant so decided to give it a try.
One of the staff spoke reasonable English and explained the menu to us. He was very friendly and helpful. We opted for "beef with cherry and mushroom sauce" and beef with blue cheese sauce" Turned out they were the most delicious and tender fillet steak we have ever had. The sauces were very nice but there was enough of them.

Based on our first experience we returned a few nights later for Tapas.
We weren't very hungry so only had two plates. They were very disappointing. The "spiced potato" was thinly sliced potato, lightly fried with traces of unknown herbs and a nice spicy sauce. The potatoes were only lukewarm. The plate of onions, tomato and eggplant sounded interesting, but again the onions were lukewarm, but the mashed eggplant still had ice in it !!

Had we not returned the second time I would have rated this excellent, but the food is not consistently excellent. Go for the steak :-)

Walking along, looking for a place to eat that was still open after 9 in the evening,we came across a Spanish restaurant, advertising some lunch specials. The evening menu was quite pricey. The owner came out and offered to make us a small meal for the price of the lunch special - and he did. Our son had rice and chicken, and my husband tilapia with vegetables, and both were really good. I had chick peas with chorizo and rice. That was less successful, but then they brought us each a little serving of custard, on the house. The glass of Argentinian red wine was not the best, but overall we felt that we had a good meal and been well treated.
