The Blue Banyan is a lovely place to stay, it is in the hills surrounded by jungle and off the beaten track. However, while it feels remote it is only 15 minutes drive to the nearest town, Quepos. It only has three cabins, we stayed in Hibiscus, it was very comfortable and spacious with a great terrace looking towards the mountains. The pool was beautiful, the water warm and silky and we had it to ourselves. Breakfast was excellent. Chip, the owner, was helpful and fun.
It is a little hard to find so make sure you have good directions, sat navy is useful! We would also recommend the guided tour around the wildlife refuge run by 'Kids Saving the Rainforest'.

Blue Banyan Inn is just a couple of kms off the main road, through the palm tree plantations and only a few kms away from the hussle and bustle of Quepos. There are just three chalets onsite and we had booked them all for our family. They were all a very good size with two double beds in each with a huge bathroom, wooden deck with rocking chair and set in the middle of the lush forest/jungle. We probably only needed two as we were a family of two adults, two teenagers and granny. Breakfast was amazing and meant we didn't need to eat until dinner. There was no restaurant for lunch or dinner onsite but we were welcome to use their kitchen if we wanted. Quepos was close enough and had plenty of choice for eating out so we didn't find this a problem. The owner Chip was there every morning during breakfast to accompany us and was a real character. The pool and gardens were great. A Great surprise was that we were right next door to the KSTR, "kids saving the rainforest sanctuary" which we visited and were very impressed with all the work They are doing. Very beautiful, quiet and relaxing place to stay.

After 10 minutes drive through a palm tree plantation, you get to this little gem.

The property is located close to Quepos but without the crowd (count the plantation drive then another 5 minutes drive gets you to the Quepos Marina- worth a visit for fine dining and some souvenir shopping, another 10' will get you to Manuel Antonio NP).

The property has 3 cottages, we stayed 2 nights in the Hibiscus cottage and 1 night in Heliconia (we decided to come back later in our trip). In both cottages, the main room has two huge beds, have great bathrooms and a fine terrace to enjoy a drink, and at night the owner's white cat Cleo will come and greet you.
On the roof of the Heliconia a igana wanders, making some funny noises, but that stops at sunset so no worries for a quiet night' sleep.

Breakfast is served in the common area and is delicious. We had banana pancakes next to a choice of cooked eggs , fruit platter, coffee , juice .

Blue Banyan has a superb - big- garden and pool where our kids felt at home. They can play/walk around without any danger.

The property is adjacent to Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR), a rescue center for local fauna. Check out the dedicated website kstr.org to find all useful info better than I would describe.
We did the tour and it is really worth it.
The BBI and KSTR are really one project and mindset. We personnaly adhere to this type of initiative 100%.

Finally the owner, Chip, is a true host and has welcomed us in a very personal and friendly way. We have such a good memory of our 3 nights at BBI and we will definitely be back, be it on holidays or through volunteering at KSTR

just 3 bungalows ..... far away from each other
great view, great fauna/flora
nice and chatty owner
great rooms, great bathroom
nice breakfast
my minus is: needs a new toilet seat, aircon is very loud, TV on the internet adverts means DVD player and lots of Dvds to watch
no dinner option (which is a dissappointment because you have to get back i to your car and drive for15-20 min. to get to the restaurants)

BBI place is perfet, in the middle of the jungle, only 4km from the main road and very close to the center of Quepos and Manuel Antonio Parc. The swimming pool is also very enjoyable and the cottages are far one from the other, which guarantee a true intimacy.
Nevertheless, we experienced a pretty poor service, we did not feel as guests at all and could feel that the attention from the owner was focused on the volunteers from Kids saving the rainforest (which purpose is important for the area) but clearly not on guests. The place would need some cleaning, there were beverages that were around the swimming pool when we arrived and did not move the day after. You won't find food there, only breakfast but mostly improvised.
The cottage had a wonderful view, is pretty large but you need to be refreshed as well.
