We stayed here thinking it would be nice to not have to worry about making the 11:30a boat taxi to Drake Bay, but instead we were worried about our safety once here. As soon as we showed up and were checking in, we were stared at by some questionable and rowdy locals drinking beer at the Perla del Sur restaurant attached to the hotel. So we spent the night hunkered down in the room hoping nothing bad would happen.

However, giving this place 3 "stars" because it had all of the basics, plus it was the first hot shower we'd had in a week! The room had A/C (although super loud and old), TV, three beds, restaurant (breakfast included), private bathroom, private room, etc. Also, the owner was nice enough to give us a price break on secure parking for our rental car while we were staying at Drake Bay.

Overall our suggestion, if you have a rental car or ride set up, is to just come in the morning by 10:30/11a. The boat taxi's pick up here at 11:30a and its $15/person to Drake Bay. There are plenty of nice places to stay within one hour drive to Sierpe for around the same price.

Great people, very helpful and the base for La Perla tours which is listed separately.
You can arrive in the morning have lunch and book your tours and be off on a boat in the afternoon. Friendly knowledgeable guides.
Rooms are basic but clean, comfortable and with wifi in the restaurant.
Food is good. The people are great.

We left our iphone charging at the restaurant and a local woman took it. Don Jorge knew this person and got it back for us. His people are amazing! We left our car with them for 3 nights and had lunch there twice. The food was delicious and the bathroom was clean (VERY important when traveling with kids who don't want to go to to a dirty scary bathroom). Don Jorge and his people will make sure that you (and your car) are well taken care of!

There are three restaurants in Sierpe and Oleaje's is the busiest with foreigners. Oleaje's is the hub for tourism in Sierpe and the restaurant can be hectic when there's more than one tour leaving. There is free wifi but it often isn't working. The riverside seating is open-air with concrete benches & tables (not the most comfortable, especially if it's very sunny). There is no AC but the inside has ceiling fans. Oleaje's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there is an extensive tourist priced menu. I was disappointed with the breakfast here (heuvos rancharos was two eggs with pasta sauce and a slice of bread), but have been very happy with the lunch. If you want to be surrounded by gringos this is the restaurant to go to.

Right next door for catching the boat to the park in the morning (which never leaves remotely on time!). You can leave your car in the secure car park along the road for a small daily fee while you're away.
Staff were friendly and spoke minimal English. Air con in room which was a nice surprise and good wifi in the restaurant to take advantage of before heading off into the jungle. We arrived in the rain and dark; point of note is that the sat nav takes you to one street past where you're supposed to be.
Probably not a problem if you were to arrive in more visible circumstances!
Good stay and convenient stay. Reasonable cost given the limited choice of accommodation.
