This place has seen better moments. The infrastructure is fine, but in urgent need of some renovation. Rooms are dark, old fashioned and appliances seem archaic. Monkeys are plenty and playful. Beware of things left unattended.

Laura, manager, made this place, I hear the owner of the property is making some changes to the staff, but Laura makes the stay memorable. You are always greeted with such a warm and friendly smile, she ensures your day around Montezuma starts the right way. Breakfast is awesome, grounds are over grown with foliage everywhere, but that leads to the best part, wildlife everywhere, if you came to Costa Rica to see monkeys, lizards or codi's, they are here. Pool is small but perfect for cooling down. The rooms are large, some nights the air didn't move, but the sheets were clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. The staff makes this place awesome, Laura is a true asset to the area......

We loved it here, perfect location steps away from the beach and little downtown area, peaceful, and such a sweet family running it. Excellent breakfast, wildlife everywhere, it was perfect for us. A little humid and sticky in rooms, bathrooms ok, easy on the sewage system...but that's typical for location. Wonderful pool, great choice of smaller to family size rooms.

This is a tricky review as we left after 2 days planning to stay 4. This was because the rooms are quite old and run down and are full of critters (cockroaches especially). But the lady who runs the place is brilliant, there are loads of cool animals on the grounds, and it's right on the edge of town but still feels secluded.

If you don't mind a room full of bugs and a bit of shabbiness this is a great option. We stayed in the room and the casita with a/c and the cast was definitely better. One thing is the lady who ran the place was about to leave after 10 years and she was a big part of what's good about the hotel.

Room Tip: Casitas are best

This place is an absolute gem in Montezuma. Super clean and spacious rooms and the scenery awesome. Everyday you will get to see various animals just in their garden! Especially the monkeys are a true gift to watch at sunset while swimming in the amazing pool!

Breakfast is a true treat and the hosts make this place not only a gem, but a place that feels like home!
