We felt like Swiss Family Robinson while staying here. The Luna lodge was very spacious and still provided a lot of privacy although there were 7 of us staying there.
The owners and staff were extremely accommodating and friendly.
They only mildly negative thing was that it was a little dark inside and there might have been some holes in the mosquito netting, but with the darkness comes a sense of cosy-ness and beautiful wood interior and so we wouldn't have changed a thing.

We absolutely loved this hotel. The property is amazing with all of the grass, flowers and lush trees surrounding the hotel. It is right across the street from the entrance of the waterfall, so that made a hike to the waterfall super convenient. The breakfast food was delicious...homemade granola, loads of fruit, yogurt, and one of the best veggies and cheese omelette I have ever eaten. We enjoyed star gazing at night, while sitting in chairs set out on the grassy area in front of the property (ocean view). There are lots of benches, chairs and hammocks all over the property for reading and just staring at the beautiful ocean view. We stayed at a few places on the Nicoya Peninsula and Hotel Amor de Mar was our favourite! Room 9 was very cozy and clean, the bathroom was spacious and the private outdoor veranda was just lovely and perfect for sitting and reading and sipping coffee - so luxurious :-) You have got to stay here!!!

Hotel Amor de Mar is basically perfect: the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced, there's the most amazing lava-formed tide pool for swimming in (best hotel pool ever), breakfast is delicious, Ori the proprietor really wants her guests to enjoy themselves, and it's quiet and away from the hustle bustle of Montezuma with all that hustle and bustle available within a 5 minute walk. I don't know how it could be better. We'll be back!

The hotel is at the south end of Playa Montezuma, directly across from the path that leads up to the Montezuma waterfall. It's right at the edge of the ocean with beautiful lawn and gardens leading to the waters edge. Right there, the edge is not beach: it's old lava and so is quite rocky. But, on one side, towards Montezuma, you're 45 secs from crossing the river and being on a beach. And on the other side, you have to walk all of 2 or 3 minutes to get to another secluded beach.

The building is beautiful and charming: lots of worked wood. The rooms are not large, but are nicely appointed. Comfortable bed and good bathroom. All of the upstairs rooms come with dedicated balconies. And after all, you're going to spend most of your time at the room sitting out on the balcony looking at the ocean. The rooms have both fans and AC.

There's also a separate standalone house for honeymooners and families. And Ori is planning on building some more standalone places on the edge of the property. The regular rooms were just great for a couple.

There's a restaurant downstairs that serves delicious breakfast and lunch. Both had lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Ori puts out a big Sunday brunch spread which was great. And for dinner, Montezuma town is just a few minutes walk away.

Room Tip: Room 5 upstairs is lovely

Hotel Amor is the best hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica. My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon and we never wanted to leave. The property is incredible. Beautifully landscaped and gardened, a day didn't go by that we didn't notice some other new beautiful garden or plant. The food is so delicious, and the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable with fans and AC at a very fair price. The staff is amazing and very helpful. They set up tours for us and made us feel at home. The staff went above and beyond to help us with a booking mistake on our part (left ourselves hotel-less a day short) and set us up in a new room. Just writing this review has me aching to go back!

We loved this hotel, it was our favourite place of our stay in Costa Rica. First, the view from the back of the hotel can't be beaten: a garden with palm trees, hammocks and chairs, which leads down to the sea, the waves crashing onto the rocks. I could just look at it forever. The hotel lives up to the view. From the welcome on our arrival till the morning we left, the staff were friendly, helpful and warm. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely, the wood panelling everywhere gives the hotel a really nice, individual atmosphere. We had a balcony overlooking the garden; I particularly liked the fact that we had plants on the balcony, it gave it a very homely feel. The bathroom was spacious and clean with a walk-in shower.
We had breakfast there a couple of days and that was delicious.
The hotel is only a pleasant 10 min walk from the centre of Montezuma and we enjoyed our walks back in the evening, particularly the night there was a lightning storm at sea!
Cannot recommend this place highly enough!
