We arrived a couple hours early for our 3 night stay at Shana. I wasn't expecting to be able to check in but they got our rooms ready early for us and brought some drinks while we waited. The room was great, with a nice view of the forest and ocean.
Monkeys ran across our balcony. There are quite a few to see -- on our balcony, by the pool, and along the walk down the private path to Biesanz Beach. We also got to see sloths and a red-eyed frog, all from the hotel. September was low season so we often got to feel like we had the place to ourselves. That, and the personal attention from Michael and James over WhatsApp and in person made our stay feel quite special.
The restaurant on site is excellent as well. The breakfast included a fruit and bread buffet with an a la cart main. Erick and Linda provided us with standout service.
Whoever the groundskeeper is, I think they've done an excellent job. The greenery and flowers everywhere in the hotel, especially overlooking the pool, are exceptionally beautiful. There's a feeling like the forest reaches into the hotel. I also loved the private trail down to the beach. We had a great time here, and I suspect this may be the best hotel in Manuel Antonio. It'll be our first choice next time we're here.More
