Hotel Flor Blanca was terrible to say the least!
Room - old, dark, and musty odor, bed linen did not have a clean feel to the touch. The TV belongs to the '80s i think? Plug points in the room didn't work, save for 1 wall.
Bathroom - very old, outdated and tiny. (do not expect toiletries). Bath towels provided were clean but so old they were stained in some places.
WiFi - is bad in this hotel! The WiFi range didn't reach my room and i had to keep standing on the stairs or in the lobby to try and get WiFi.
Front Desk - owner was rude and conveniently did not understand English when it suited him. I had a family emergency and with the bad WiFi, when my family called the reception / front desk, he asked them to call in 15 min, and then, again in 10 min! When they managed to reach me over that horrible WiFi, they told me about it, and I checked out due to an unsafe and unsavory feeling in that place. I was in tears.Obviously refund was out of question here.
This was the only bad experience i had in the entire Manuel Antonio area. Avoid staying here, pay more, but have a better experience elsewhere.

Room Tip: Don't stay here. Rooms are dark and musty

We booked it becouse it was the only hotel within our budget available. Looking at pics on booking.com we expected dodgy place with small pool. It turns out that the pool is not as small as we expected. The rooms are on the small side, but charming. Very narrow and steep stairs leading to most rooms (reconsider if you have toddlers or elderly people). A/C comes handy (Manuel Antonio is extremely humid). Breakfast is OK. The staff is friendly, but it is true that most don't speak English (great way to improve your Spanish )

Hotel Flor Blanca maybe at the top of Manuel Antonio, near a supermarket and some small groceries stores. We stayed in a room that I believe it was remodeled cause everything looked new, clean and well accommodated. The room has a small fridges which turn out to be great for us since Manuel Antonio is so hot. The host at the front desk was very kind and gave us some tips on where to eat and go. We had a car and had no problem parking it outside in front of the hotel. It also has a nice pool were you can chill after a long day at the park. It includes basic costarican breakfast. It a family oriented hotel which was fine with us since we were looking to rest after exploring Quepos.

If you Google Flor Blanca Costa Rica, you might get photos of Florblanca Resort. This place is NOT that.
The hotel is built into the side of a busy road, and because of the design, you don't really hear traffic. You do, however, have to lug your suitcase up and down narrow stairs.
We got a poolside room that smelled pretty mildewy, but no one spoke English and my Spanish isn't good enough to try to get a better room. It is in an ocean town right up against the forest so a certain amount of musty is probably to be expected.
No safes in the rooms.
My husband shooed out a cockroach. (again, we're in the forest, so one bug probably isn't unexpected) The kitchen where they prepare breakfast is out in the open and I saw not a single bug there when we hung out for a long while one rainy afternoon, so I think ours was somewhat unusual.
We had a car so we drove down to the beach each day. It's not that far but it's not what I'd consider walkable. (apparently a bus stops nearby that goes to the beach?)
We had some work to do so we sat at the tables where breakfast is served and the wifi was reliable and fast. The owner walked through and turned on the ceiling fans to cool us off, as it was pretty humid mid day.
There's a tasty little taco joint across the street with a beautiful open-air perch in back, where we saw two macaws fly by as we ate. I also laid in some provisions at a grocery store a very short walk up the street.

Before I get into the reasons for my low rating I would like to say that my wife and I do a lot of travelling, we’ve stayed in hotels ranging from 2 to 5 stars in close to 15 countries. This is our second visit to Costa Rica and between the two trips we stayed in 9 establishments throughout the county, many of which were managed and run by Ticos. We based our expectations on the experiences we had in similar establishments.

This hotel has a handful of staff and none of them speak English. While I am not arrogant enough to expect to speak English everywhere I go in a Spanish speaking country, I would expect somebody in a hotel in one of the most visited parts of the country to be able to manage in English. If that’s not the market they are catering to, fine, but then why have an English website? It sets a certain expectation.

The website states they have a tour desk and a concierge which is a complete falsehood. Perhaps the manager doubles as those things, but seeing as he’s rarely ever at the front desk, it’s of little help.

There is a bell you can ring if you arrive at the front desk and no one’s there and the manager usually comes within a minute. This is unless it’s his lunch time in which case you can ring all you like with no effect. As we needed to get our room key, which was behind the front desk, we persuaded the cleaning lady to get him for us. It shouldn’t have to be that difficult.

They advertise a laundry service and promise to return the clothes within four hours. We dropped most of our clothes at 2pm and still hadn’t received them back by the following morning. At breakfast we enquired and were able to surmise the person who does the laundry didn’t work in the afternoon. So four hours turned into 24 while we were stuck in the same sweaty clothes. Again, this type of misunderstanding wouldn’t happen if at least one member of staff could communicate with the international tourists.

During our visit there were only three rooms occupied and they placed us in a room overlooking the pool. Breakfast is served at an outdoor kitchen next to the pool from 7am and that’s when they start blasting music onto the pool deck. As most of the rooms faced the pool, we were shocked they didn’t seem to notice this might wake up the guests. We asked the manager to turn down the music and the following morning he did, but shouldn’t it be a given you don’t play loud music when guests are still sleeping?

To summarise, I felt they don’t put the needs of the visitors at the forefront. They appear to do what they want and the guests’ needs aren’t really considered. Manuel Antonio has literally a hundred hotels to choose from. I would recommend looking into the other options.
