“The closest place to heaven...!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2012

what a great place, in the middle of the rain forest and on the banks of one of the waterways it is situated in a dreamy place.

The food was very good, the rooms spacious and very comfortable
and the stuff very helpful and kind,

The location and atmosphere are exceptional, we woke up in the mornings to the sounds of the Howler monkeys ...

This hotel is North of the Tortuguero Park which you Will reach after one hour of a superb bot ride. There you will find a small place - 12 rooms- and a most friendly service. Tours are organized twice a day to visit by boat the surroundings and learn about the flora and fauna. Good mélasse included in the Price. Rooms could be better and the total price is rather expensive.

A small gem, great location and wonderful service. Airconditioned spacious rooms, wonderful sun deck and pool and very friendly staff. The hotel is small which is what you want so that all the excursions are also in very small groups, much better for wildlife observation. Tortueguero is a must if you come to costa rica, incredible wildlife not only turtles but a paradise also for bird watchers and animal lovers. Monkeys, sloth, snakes, right in the hotel gardens, not to forget the venomous frog and boa!

This was an amazing experience! It was wet all the way. We were surrounded on three sides by water and it rained three quarters of the time. But we knew that and the rain was warm.
They have covered boats if you wish, but you don't see as much. With a rain cape you see more and who cares about getting wet?
The guides are amazing at spotting wildlife and the boat trips through the channels are not to be missed.
Manatus is a dormitory village where many of th staff live so very basic.
The rooms are set out in blocks between the water and the jungle. Very comfortable with 2 double beds, mini bar, chair etc
NB mosquitoes are here although we didn't have too much trouble
Food was very good, espcially the fish, and the service excellent with waiters who had a sense of fun.
A short foray into the jungle revealed all manner of insect and frog life at the expense of kamikaze mosquito attack.
Well worth a visit

We liked the hotel overall, the rooms were nice but lacking in amenities (no hot water in the sink, no robes or slippers, no phones in the room to call the front desk), and the food is very underwhelming. That being said, the service is amazing, the transportation was effortless, and the location ideal to explore nature. Could be more luxurious for the money, but a very pleasant experience nonetheless.
