We are going to be in Costa Rica in October on a cruise stop. We have been working with Nina for a few months on a tour. She has tirelessly worked several options for us. Her service was great. I am excited for the tour and am sure it will be fantastic.

All of our drivers for the week (we were super busy with a lot of trips) arrived early and were super friendly and informative. They all spoke English and made us very comfortable.

I highly recommend using a tour company for your 1st visit to Costa Rica. They cart you around to each destination and make sure you don’t go hungry! Gecko Trails did a fabulous job of working with me, to tailor my trip to fit my active lifestyle. Irene was a pleasure to work with, responding to all my concerns and questions. Accommodations were beautiful and comfortable and the activities were fun and educational. Food was delicious too!
We loved staying at Banana Azul, but our favorite was Chira Glamping in Monteverde! Highly recommend this experience. The tour guides were friendly, caring, funny and highly educated about the wildlife, history and general information. We had a blast! A trip my friends and I will never forget!

Just came back from our honeymoon in Costa Rica and used Gecko Trail for all of our transport needs. It was was easy to coordinate and all transports were on time and got us to our destination safely. We planned everything back in January for our trip in March and didn't have any issues. We used them for transport from San Jose to La Fortuna, La Fortuna all the way to Tamarindo (4 1/2 hours!) and then from Tamarindo to Liberia. It was all done seamlessly, highly recommend using them for transport vs. renting a car! Even has wifi in their vehicles!

We had a super holiday in Costa Rica 27 Feb-13 Mar 2018. Gecko Trail arrangements were 100% successful.

Loved Costa Rica and its people. Beautiful country and so clean (very little litter). Very friendly people. How proud you must be. One area needs improving though - road signs! No names of settlements and few signs to confirm which road you are on.

Loved Monteverde. But hairy driving to Monteverde on the steep, winding dirt roads (OK for me but not for nervous drivers). We got stopped for nearly 2 hours because of roadworks on the 606. Better wildlife tour at Cure Cancha than at Monteverde reserve.

Loved Arenal. Did a lovely late afternoon birdwatching tour along a deserted dirt road running up from the dam. Great day trip to Cano Negro if you like wildlife (my highlight for that) and don't mind 5 hours in a bus. Saw a 'Jesus' Basilisk running on the water!

Would recommend valley of San Gerardo de Dota in Los Quetzales NP to anyone who wants to see Quetzals and complexly out of the way Costa Rica. Didn't see any on first early morning tour, so offered free tour next morning. Then saw 2 males & 2 females at close quarters in what our guide described as one of the best courtship displays he'd seen.

Wilson Botanical Station really interesting and great on-site tours. Very communal feel. Very healthy, well prepared canteen food - lovely atmosphere. Top notch for birdwatchers & gardeners.

Don't visit Manuel Antonio if you don't like crowds!!! If, like us, you don't then drive 40-60km South and visit Hacienda Baru (read 'Monkeys are made of Chocolate' first) for the wildlife and no crowds. Also visit a beach or beaches of the Ballena Marine NP. We went to Playa Ballena. Endless sand, lovely shade, surf/swim heaven and never more than 10 people in total.

We spent our last morning at Hacienda Baru doing the2 km Mangrove Walk on our own - first time anywhere wildlife walk without a guide. Saw Cappuchin Monkeys, large and baby Caimans, Coati, Iguanas, Lizards, black squirrels, leaf cutter ants, 'helicopter' dragonflies and lots of birds , including 3 Curasows in a tree above us and a blue heron with the adult Caimans.

Thank you Costa Rica & Gecko Trail!

We are very pleased to hear you had a fantastic time. You definitely visited some off the beaten track spots and it seems you got the best out of it! Seeing that many Quetzales in one morning - does not happen often! Pura Vida!
