Description: The Shrimp Hole - small and casual restaurant with a sunny deck, situated only a short walk from the beautiful beach of Tamarindo in Costa Rica and on the way to Langosta. Established in 2014 by a young, food loving couple, who grew up in Europe and travelled the world before opening their dream restaurant in Tamarindo. This tiny, tropical, thirteen seater, 'hole in the wall' restaurant, beneath an yang yang tree serves a simple but mouth watering menu: Only the freshest, sustainably farmed Costa Rican shrimp, sourced directly from fish markets in Puntarenas, served in delicious, handcrafted sauces that are made fresh, from scratch, every day. We also have a delicious Bahn Mi Sandwich as our famous Lunch Special. We serve our juicy shrimps with steamed rice and a selection of fresh salads. You can also enjoy a variety of home made lemonades. ... It's the ideal after surf spot to kick back and relax after catching a few of Tamarindo's famous waves. You can grab your food to go and stroll down to the beach to watch the waves or sit on our sunny deck, watch the world go by, and experience the best outdoor seafood dining in the relaxed atmosphere of Tamarindo. We make every effort to be as sustainable as possible, using only the best, locally sourced Costa Rican ingredients in our kitchen.

Food was fresh, staff was super friendly. Ceviche was delicious and refreshing. Lime juice was cold and fresh. Poke bowl was also delicious. Went here multiple times on my trip.

What a disappointment. If you've ever had a good poke bowl, it will be hard to eat this one. The rice was hard, like it had been refrigerated. Maybe in an attempt to rehydrate the rice, it was swimming in soy sauce. There was also a very sweet teriyaki sauce ruining the bowl. The raw tuna was good though. My husband got the bahn mi sandwich which was too much bread and not enough filling. The service was great and the place is cute.

We are sorry you were disappointed with the food. Something went wrong that day. Since your review, we have done a lot of training and we are positive we have nailed the Poke recipe and all the staff and customers love it. We would be happy for you to try it again free of charge to get your feedback. Cheers

This place is located right by Selina’s hostel, and I could say that it is one of the more tastier restaurants in the area. The food is delicious, and I always came back for more! I believe I ordered almost everything on their menu. I would definitely recommend this place. Even their drinks are great!

To our amazement, this was one of the best lunches we had during our visit to Costa Rica. Although it was one of the smallest spaces with little or no view of anything, it was well worth the visit. We each had a different shrimp dish and wow were we pleased with the results. They cooked the food in a little "Shrimp Hole" as advertised and we were stunned with the results. Some high class establishments could take some serious pointers from these people who were also very friendly. What a great find....
