“Hot Place with many problems, stay away!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The positive- very nice property with good quality. Day one- the A/C broke for the first floor of the main house. Bob Watson (property manager) sent repair guys over quickly and the A/C was working. Day two- the A/C broke in the casita. Called Bob Watson to let him know. He did not call me back and nobody showed up to repair the A/C. Called Bob the next morning, no response from him. Sent Bob an email to inform him that we demand the A/C repaired. The casita was too hot to even sleep in. There is no gas for the gas range in the kitchen and no propane for the grill. None of the bathrooms have air conditioning (garden baths????). If you enjoy sweating after taking a shower, you will love this place. This property is located too far from Tamarindo to walk, fortunately we rented a car. The beach is a pain to get to and was not appealing to us. The only other positive was Sebastian Lizano, the concierge. Sebastian booked our tours and made great recommendations.

“Great place, but wish had known a little more prior to arrival”
Reviewed 29 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Would definitely recommend staying here - the house was lovely - they've really done a nice job with it! We stayed in Casa Secreta (which I have to say is not actually the unit that had been confirmed to me, but it wasn't a deal breaker - it was equally as nice as the other one, same amenities!) and it was located next to a busy road - would have been nice to know that. We also heard that the builder skipped town - there were a few unfinished units - skeletons of, really - and tons of empty lots. And I would not consider these beachfront - there is beach "access" but it's easier to just walk down to the beach club and go to the beach there. Have to be honest that having access to the Langosta Beach club makes it - as long as that is included, I would definitely go again! If not, I'd honestly think twice. And be warned that there is a lot competition when it comes to excursions. The property manager (Bob) was helpful in the beginning, but I would have liked to have known that he had his own concierge (who is very helpful!) - as we were booking things, I just assumed he was referring to the concierge at the Beach Club. Came across as a little sketchy once we were there and put two and two together.

“Lovely, modern home near Tamarindo.”

We stayed at this property during Semana Santa or Holy Week 2013. We arranged pick up from the airport with the manager, Bob Wilson. He was very helpful and responded to emails immediately. Our car and driver were easy to find at the Liberia airport and I am glad we took a shuttle rather than renting a car. The town was an easy walk from the home. The dirt roads were a little nerve racking to walk at night, but cabs were easy to come by and cheap.

Thankfully Bob gave us a ride into town to grocery shop that first morning. The grocery store was very nice and had everything you would need for your stay. Prices were similar to the US. We also arranged tours with Bob and everything went according to plan. Thank you for your help and recommendations!

The unit we stayed in was probably bigger than we needed but was well equipped and beautifully decorated. The kids (ages 8 and 10) were thrilled with the pool. It was very hot that week and we used the pool at the home and beach club a lot. There were plenty of towels and the beds were very comfortable.

There is a little grocery store that is an easy walk right beyond the beach club. We went there several times during the week for bread, milk, etc... We were surprised at the variety of restaurants in Tamarindo and the quality of the food. Both very good. We ate at the Langosta Beach Club one night and they had live music which was really nice. The kids loved the "chocolate milk shakes" that they made. The staff there was great and the owners very accommodating. The Beach Club was a huge bonus to the home. They also had a morning Yoga class that was very nice.

The home is equipped with WiFi which came in handy. The Capitan Suizo is located between the home and the Beach Club. This hotel has a really nice restaurant and it is easy to cut down to the beach from there. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the home. The stairs to the beach directly from the home were Ok for us, but would be a difficult descent for the very young or old.

Overall we were very pleased with our stay and with Bob. We would highly recommend this location to others!!

“Amazing house with a great backyard and a safe and convenient location”
Reviewed 23 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

I spent my 29th birthday in Tamarindo with my husband and another couple at the beautiful La Secreta. The house was beautiful, with lots of space. There are 2 bedrooms in the main house, and another bedroom and bathroom that are separate. (The bed was so comfortable that I wrote down the brand/type of mattress it was so I could get one.) The backyard is great, with a great patio area and a nice private little pool to take a dip in.

Bob, the property manager was great! He greeted us upon our arrival and took us to the grocery store since we didn't have a car. He also made some great suggestions on excursions and places to eat and he arranged our transportation and our activities.

We were there during the rainy season, so a lot of the restaurants we wanted to try were closed. (We did eat at Nibbana, thanks to Bob and it was very good.) We took fool advantage of the kitchen while we were there, and it pretty much anything you could need. If you do plan on cooking, you might check the cabinets for things you might need before going to the store. I know we left sugar, olive oil and some other marinades that we didn't end up using.

Now on to The Beach Club, which is a great perk when you stay in this house. It's a pretty short walk from the house and it's a great landing spot right on the beach. The owners and staff are fabulous, and I can't imagine staying in Tamarindo without having access to this place. We only ate around the pool, but the food was fantastic and you could open a tab on your first day there and then close it at the end of your stay. This was nice so we didn't have to carry a card or cash with us all the time.

Lastly the location. It was a pretty short walk to the beach, and to town. I would suggest taking the beach into town during the daytime and just taking a taxi back at night. We didn't have a lot of luck getting a taxi from Tamarindo Preserve, but that could have had to do with the fact that it's the rainy season. I would also suggest that you bring a small flashlight with you too in case you do end up walking around at night.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and I hope to come back here myself in the near future!

“Beautiful Tamarindo Villa”
Reviewed 15 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

This villa is exactly as pictured, and then some. It is absolutely beautiful, brand new everything, comfortable, private and a perfect place to come back to after a long day of adventures. It was very clean and the beds were incredibly large and comfortable. The third bedroom is in a separate cabana outside by the pool which was great for the older kids. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a grill on the porch and a great outdoor sitting area. We had some appetizers and wine on the patio several nights, it was paradise! The pool is a great thing to have when you get home from the beach or an excursion to float in for a little while and relax. Bob the property manager was so helpful, he took us to the grocery store when we got into town, helped us figure out the prices, and set up all of our excursions for us. The walk to Tamarindo beach is not bad, the stairs down to the beach need some definite improvements though. We walked down the road most days to the beach club, which is a short easy walk. The beach is beautiful, our favorite beach to walk on was Langosta because of all the rock formations, when the tide goes out it is magnificent. It is also very cool to be on the point between these two beaches and have both options! The beach club is a huge plus to staying in the house, they have beach chairs, a pool, a bar, and a great restaurant. We ate lunch there almost everyday and dinner once. The food is great! The kids loved swimming in the pool, playing in the ocean, or sitting in a cabana under a fan while we laid on the beach, it was a perfect set up for us. They also have a great happy hour! The town of Tamarindo is a beautiful walk down the beach, we walked there most nights as the sun was setting for dinner and then took a taxi back for just $5. Great restaurants in town (try Ttiki, Nibbana, Pizzeria La Baula, and the Beach Club) and very nice people everywhere! Overall, we had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back to Tamarindo again soon, and will definitely be staying in this villa again when we do! Highly recommended.
