My husband lived in Santa Cruz for over 20 years and we came from the States to visit family this past weekend. He said the hotel is a good 30 years old and at one time was somewhat of a historical type of hotel. It is very charming, well maintained, clean, comfortable. Three swimming pools including a nice child's pool. The second pool was for adults but didn't go over 5 feet water wise. The third pool COULD have been very nice but was empty and filled with weeds and looked like it had a depth of about 10 feet in one spot. The pools were exceptionally clean and our children loved them. The furniture is old as is the decor..like 1970's style..BUT very clean and the entire property is well maintained. It does have wireless internet access. No restaurant. The location of the hotel is fabulous..you can walk to everything you need. The hotel owners live on site. We always noticed people out and about, tending to things.

The down side..and this wouldn't prevent us from staying there again...the NOISE from some of the other residents sitting outside their rooms on the leisure chairs in front of each room. I mean, WHO talks on their cell phone at 2am? This unfortunately happened every night. My husband did speak to the owner who was understanding and spoke to the person, but they did not stop. The hotel does have on-site security that basically stays on the veranda all night. I think this problem could have been prevented with the noise if security reguarly made rounds. Overall, I was very happy with the price, the comfort of the hotel, the kindness of the staff, the cleanliness. Be sure to walk over to the Market in town on Saturday morning for lovely treats, especially the homemade tortillas and cheese. Some of the other restaurants in town were very reasonable, and the seafood stew is fabulous. There is a grocery store next door, which is convneient, but there is actually a better one, with better prices, "behind" the hotel.

Room Tip: Be mindful people may sit out on their chairs in front of their rooms unitl the wee hours and they can be loud

Needed an overnight stay in Santa Cruz, not too far from Bus Station. Taxi brought us to hotel for $2 and was greeted with a smile and hospitality. Found the rooms to be clean and self controlled air cooler. Small TV but worked great. Maximum capacity per room is 3, but beds are comfortable and clean. Checked for bed bugs but found no sign. Rainy season so did not use pool, but some children were swimming and having great time. My favorite part was the hot shower ... was delicous!!Banco National is just across the street, and Super Market just right next door. Good eateries are just a block or more away. (Even Pizza Hut and oriental food if in the mood.) Would stay again if in Santa Cruz.
