Just spent 5 very relaxing nights at the delightful Lodge Las Ranas or Racoon Lodge if you are in room 3 where we had nightly visits from these cute little greedy hoovers! Also an abundance of other wildlife; howler monkeys a plenty howling away like there was no tomorrow, saw Toucans, mot-mot, green parrots and loads more. The room was well appointed and comfy and although we had the advantage of the wildlife adjacent to our balcony, as we were there for 5 nights, it would have been really nice to have a better view, as it was we got “sea glimpses”!
However, that aside, it’s a really well run operation and the staff, Keeka and Brian in particular were brilliant; friendly, knowledgeable and really helpful with any request. There are other staff too and it’s clear that the whole place is run beautifully. As for Sámara, it is beautiful, friendly, got just the right mix of bars and restaurants and general amenities and charm in bucket loads. Would recommend both the Lodge and Sámara to anyone.
PS - the drive up is very steep and a bit scary!!! Oh and it is a good 20 minute walk into the town but a taxi back is cheap if your legs have decided to seize up! More
