“paradise beach”
Reviewed 1 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

this place is fantastic!

felipe is a wonderful host. he is super friendly and you can tell he really loves sharing his little slice of paradise with his guests.

the kitchen provided everything you'd need to make home cooked meals and everything was always clean and tidy.

there are lots of places to relax on the property (hammocks, dining room table, lounge chairs, etc) so it's easy to find private space if you need some quite time.

this place is perfect if you are looking to get away from it all. the sunsets are epic! as are the waves. nature abounds here and we saw lots of monkeys, birds, and even some salt water crocodiles in the estuary. there is a market and even a few restaurants within walking distance. if you need more action, you can easily cross the channel via water taxi to get to tamarindo.

yes the pipes are small but they are super efficient and the A/C works great! we fit our suitcases under the bed and there's plenty of shelf space on one side of the bed. the bathrooms are modern and clean. there are also clothes lines to hang your clothes.

keep in mind, this place it at the end of the line! keep on driving...you'll get there! we only noticed one sign (the very last right hand turn). but the remoteness is what makes this place so magical.

“AMAZING stay! Best hostel in Central America”
Reviewed 22 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We absolutely loved our stay in the pipehouse! We were definitely sad to leave! Felipe is such a great guy and really made the hostel such a fun place to stay. He even drove us to a fiesta in the town and back at night! Really makes you feel like one of his friends! The amenities were the best we had experienced in a month and half of travelling through Central America. Very modern and always kept so clean. The beach is literally a few steps from the hostel, I have never stayed that close to the beach before. A beach that is pretty much private as there was barely anyone on it when we were there. The pipes are so comfortably and the AC was amazing! The pipes are surprisingly big inside, we never felt cramped. Would definitely go back there again!!!

“A creative, relaxing oasis!”

The owner, Filipe was SO friendly and accommodating. You could tell he was very well liked in the community and genuinely wanted his guests to enjoy their stay. Honestly, so far he's been our warmest welcome in all of Costa Rica. We thought the concrete tubes were so neat, they turn into glorious little ice boxes with the the A/C which was a welcome repreive from the heat but perhaps not everyone would appreciate the tight quarters. The communal kitchen and outdoor living space was perfect for us, kitchen was well stocked. The bathrooms were clean and had a modern flare. The only downside we noticed were that the beds were not very comfortable, the thin mattresses were sagged in the middle on top of wood slats. This place is a hidden gem quite a ways from the main road so I'drecommend having a car to get here as it also isn't very close to amenities.

“Best place to experience the Pura Vida feeling”

During our 30 days trip we stayed two nights at the Pipe House and never experienced something alike. In other words: the ultimative highlight of our trip.
What to expect:
50m to the beach (surf spot inc.) Mangotrees, Monkeys, very few tourists, AC in every pipe and an awesome host named Felipe.

Thanks to Felipe we were able to experience the feeling of Pura Vida!
Keep up the good work!
