My husband and I and our two kids (9 and 7) stayed here for 2 nights. This place was fantastic. We stayed at Baldi the year before and loved it, but think that Los Lagos is a much better value. Food and drink and room costs are probably about half of what they are at Baldi.

The room was very nice. We were close enough to the pool that we could walk and did not need to take the shuttle to and from our room. You would definitely need to shuttle from some of the rooms though.

The pools are beautiful and there was a nice variety. None of them are overly hot. The hottest one is the one with the bar but it is still comfortable enough to spend a whole day in. Many of the pools have water slides and these kept our kids entertained for hours! They loved the one that went through a tunnel into the cold pool.

The breakfasts were delicious. We had dinner in the main restaurant one night and it was very good. We tried octopus for the first time and loved it. Our favorite meal was dinner at the pool bar on the second night. That meal was fantastic, we had the ceviche and the whole tilapia.

Wifi was only available in the main restaurant and once in a while you could pick it up by the cold pool. no worries though, if your phone is unlocked, go to Movistar in La Fortuna and get a SIM card. I paid 500 colones for the card and got the 9000 colone 30 day, 3 gb data package, surfed on my phone lots, uploaded pics, used Waze and still 0.5 gb left after 3 weeks!

Everything was reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again next time we pass through La Fortuna.

Room Tip: Try to get one closer to the pools.

The grounds of this place are just as lush and magnificent as I've ever seen anywhere. The staff was absolutely great. They have gardens and wildlife in wonderful settings. The Ant Farm,a must see. This resort could have a five star rating, if it were to pay more attention to maintaneince. The bathroom was less than perfect. Broken tiles on the vanity, very slow draining sink and tub. None the less, beautiful resort, I would recommend to everyone.

We stayed for just two nights as part of a package. The rooms are massive with large balconies and beautifully fitted bathrooms spotlessly clean. This review is based on our two night experience. I would have loved to have stayed longer for the beautiful surroundings and pool but the one down side was the noise experienced in the rooms. Walls are very thin and the people in the next room seemed to be watching films on the TV until the early hours. So a longer stay might not rate so high. Restaurant served a fantastic breakfast and evening meal. Drinks are rather expensive! A walk around the grounds is a must with fantastic wildlife.

We were extremely impressed by the staff, especially Elana and Andrea, who are receptionists at Los Lagos. When we were not ready when our transportation arrived to bring us to our next destination because I accidentally reviewed an older itinerary that had us booked at the hotel for 3 nights, they quickly rebooked our travel plans for later that day. They also made sure that we received a full refund for a dinner boat tour that we had booked for that evening from Los Lagos. The van service within Los Lagos was prompt (some rooms are quite a distance from the restaurant and pools), making it easy to get around. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We especially enjoyed our very first zip line experience (we are 69 and 73 years old) and felt very secure. The only drawbacks of the hotel were the dampness in the rooms and the mediocre food. Otherwise we were very happy at Los Lagos.

The Los Lagos Resort is situated on a mountain side and the grounds are magnificent. We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 unit Casita at the farthest point from the main building. The room was fine with a single king bed. I have lots of electronics to charge plus I use a CPAP only to find no outlets other than one for the tv/mini fridge on the other side of the room. We called and they provided me with an extension cord.

The pools are fantastic especially the one with the bar since it has the highest temperature. More like a pool than a spring though. Some of the pools had alcoves to snuggle into.

The service was great and the food very good. Just a few things other than the outlet took away a star. 1) the bed was hard as a rock and my back did not like it, 2) the WiFi is weak and did not reach our room. Be aware the walk from the main building is steep but we had a car and there were shuttles running all the time. Loved it there but could not see the Volcano.

Room Tip: No Wifi except in main building. Choose a room near by if possible.
