Alegria Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #9 of 62 Alajuela B&B and Inns
Reviewed 29 March 2016

We have stayed at Allegria B&B with George for 3 years running and consider it our home away from home. We always ask for the largest room with the king sized bed. All of the others are very nice but we enjoy this big space the most. The breakfasts of fresh home made banana bread, home made sausage, omlette and fruit is something we look forward to every year.

Location is everything and Allegria is minutes from the airport in a quiet residential neighborhood on the outskirts of Alejuela. It's also special when part of the room price is being picked up at the airport by George.

Room Tip: king sized bed

After 5 weeks travelling around Costa Rica we spend 1 night at Alegria Bed an Breakfast in Alujela. It was a very nice place; really quiet area and only 10 minutes to drive to the airport and 5 minutes drive to the restaurants.
George is a friendly host and he is happy to give a ot of information to his guests.
We can recommomend this guesthouse without any doubt.

We stayed here one night before catching a 3 a.m. flight. George, the owner, is a wonderful person. Reservations were easy and he was so kind. When our taxi didn't arrive fast enough he took us to the airport!

The room was large and comfortable. It was rather hot as there was no air conditioning...which is my fault that I didn't notice when we booked.

The only thing we didn't care for was the area. We needed to walk to a restaurant and we didn't feel too safe. Homes have razor barbed wire surrounding the gates. There was also quite a bit of noise from the street, cars, dogs barking, people shouting. We didn't sleep much.

Ditto to all the other reviews. George was a wonderful host that had us feeling right at home on our last night in Costa Rica. The room and bathroom were comfortable and clean, and a perfect quiet nights sleep. George gave us a recommendation for food that evening and even gave us a ride to the restaurant. We had to catch an early ride to the airport and George sent us off with some of the delicious banana bread and one of the most delicious ham and cheese sandwiches we've ever eaten.

The house was only about 10 minutes from the airport and a $5 taxi ride. We were unable to hear the sounds of planes passing over during the night.

We would highly recommend!

George is the kindest host we have ever met. He picked us up at the airport when we arrived to Costa Rica and gave us helpful information about the country, roads...etc. on the next day when we started our 10 day vacation. His home is clean, quiet and comfortable. He made us a delicious breakfast on our first day and on our last day before we left for the airport he even made us sandwiches for the road! He is extremely nice! Highly recommend staying at his place.
