I was told that this was one of the "to Do" places in this part of Alabama. It is unique. The highlight was the local guy with a large knife working on a stack of cantaloupe wedges. He grew up there and had seen the first dog "Troop" being buried.

Off the beaten track but my son wanted to go there. Interesting but basic - it is a cemetery after all. Bit of history. Worth the drive if you are a dog lover and into offbeat places to visit

We traveled the back roads today, all good roads, to visit the Cemetery since we were in that area. People loved their dogs as seen by the headstones ~ never been to any place like this before. There is a picnic area and outhouses are also available. The area was clean and well kept.

We stopped in after eating at the Rattlesnake Saloon. It was wonderful to see how much people had loved their dogs. Our kids, ages 9 and 5, enjoyed reading the messages and placing coins on the graves.
Animals lovers will appreciate the care that went in to each dog's memorial.
