Stayed here for a month and has to be one of the worst serviced apartment blocks I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. I could rant on for pages about how awful it was but here are the basic bullet points:
Surely rude staff who were not only incompetent but also completely uninterested in working there.
The furniture in the rooms was so uncomfortable you couldn't spend more than 10 minutes on the sofa without stabbing pains in your back
The threadbare towels on more than one occassion had holes in them the size of your fist - when i eventually complained about this the manager responded with 'ok i'll make sure that room service doesn't give you those towels again'!!!!!!!!!! Why do you have these towels in the first place - throw them away!
The laundry was terrible and ruined one of my suits
The gym has terrible equipment in it. There is one working cycle machine and one running machine (hardly a 'gym'). Twice whilst running on the machine the belt suddenly stopped and threw me to the ground.
Dirty cutlery was put back in with the clean cutlery. They couldn't even be bothered to properly clean the knives and forks before hurling them back into the draw and thus contaminating everything else.
Internet is worse than dial up and basically unusable in the rooms
Breakfast is really poor with little choice and very low quality ingredients.

I told the manager about all these problems and was met with a very snotty completely unapologetic email that I didn't even respond too. There are thousands of nicer places to stay in Shanghai make sure you don't make the mistake of staying here.

Pros:
Location is ok although the staff wont be able to tell you how to get anywhere as they don't seem to care

I had a 3 week stay at this hotel, and I've stayed at 2 other Ascott properties before in Hong Kong & Guangzhou, China, and I must say this is the best hotel I've stayed of all three properties. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. The plates, utensils, pots are clean if you plan to cook. I stayed at a 1 bedroom suite with a double bed. The sofa can be converted into a bed if you have more guests.

If you are planning for a long stay, the laundry is just by the lobby and the cost is only 30Y per load if you do your own laundry. They even help to send the laundry back to your room.

Breakfast selection was small, but they have different selections almost every day. It's great if you're staying for a long period, or otherwise, you'd probably get sick of it.

The hotel is a 5 - 10 min walk to the People's Square metro station, which can take you to both Pudong or Hongqiao Airport. The bus is also quite convenient once you get a hang of it.

There's a quiet shopping mall next door which has a pretty good selection of restaurants. Otherwise, you can head out of East Nanjing Road which is just right by People's Square metro station.

I have stayed at different hotels in Shanghai during the last three years, but this is the worst place I have stayed. The service is poor, the facilities are not there....
The breakfast is to small a selection.
But in all fairness I must admit that compared with the price it is okay and of course you have a bed where you can sleep and it is clean rooms.

Room tip: If the budget is not a problem, try another hotel

Dear AndersKN,
Thank you for taking the time and effort to review us here. While I’m glad that you found us clean and value for money , I’m sorry to hear that our Citadines ‘apart-hotel’ was the worst place. FYI - we’re planning a partial renovation commenced this Nov and we hope to be able to welcome you again and impress you with our makeover. Alternatively, if you prefer something more luxurious, may I propose our sister property, Ascott Huai Hai Road, located close to Xintiandi?
wish you a good day ahead.

Located at Beijing Road East, just one block away from Nanjing Road and People's Square, most facilities required by travellers are easily accessible from Citadines Jinqiao. Another gem is that it is only 5 minutes walk from Hwang He Food Street, where one can get Xiao Yang Sheng Jian, Soup Dumpling, Hong Kong Restaurants and traditional Shanghainese Restaurants.
The hotel amenities are a little aged though. But the price is highly competitive.

Room tip: Just request for rooms away from the ends of the corridor.

A nice place to stay on business (or leisure if on a budget). Clean rooms, nice service, great location. New Hyatt built across the road so location must be good! Great transport links as directly near a train station. Highly recommended.
