This is an older Hotel and relatively run-down. We had a double room which gave little room to even move around the centrally located double bed ( a very HARD bed) let alone find a spot for two cases.
Wallpaper coming off the walls added to the appeal.
However the location made up for a lot of the other inadequacies being in a lovely little backwater across the road from a large park, Starbucks , ATMs, and very easy walking distance (5 mins) to a higher end mall and Metro stations, and a further set of shopping opportunities 5mins in the other direction.
We took the opportunity (as an older Group even to go cycling ON THE STREETS quite safely.
The food offerings for breakfast included good European ( or at least New Zealand) options and the Mongolian Steam BBQ option for an evening meal was a treat.
We used this 3rd floor restaurant as a bar and gathering spot a couple of nights with no negative reactions.

This hotel is dirty, old, and full of mold. Run, run fast. It really is a shame that this hotel is so poorly maintained because the location is fabulous. I stayed for two long miserable days with a delegation from the United States. I knew immediately upon entering my room that this was not us to my standards. The room was small, dingy, the bed was rock hard (pretty standard in China but not in hotels that are geared towards Westerners). I could have managed had it not been for the black mold covering the shower head, wallpaper, and bathroom tiles. The internet was only available in the lobby and would never stay connected for more than 2 minutes. The year before I had stayed at Hotel Wisdom in a similar price point and it was lovely. By the second day 3 of the people in my large party were sick which convinced our tour company to switch our hotel. It's a shame we had to get sick for them to listen as it really set a sour note for our group, many of whom had never been to China. If you're an American or European traveling to China I image that your standard of hotel is higher than an old Motel 6. Save yourself some time and skip this hotel from the get go.

Room Tip: pick a different hotel in the same area

Considering that decent Shanghai hotels are on the expensive side, the Swan is reasonable, especially due to its convenient location less than half a block to the football stadium and spacious Lu Xun Park as well as a large modern mall. This is the second time my wife and I've stayed here basically due to its location near relatives. However, we were very satisfied the first time and not disappointed the second. Staff were polite and accommodating. The lobby is spacious, clean and there's a small coffee shop to the side. The rooms are small but clean. On our last visit, the air conditioner was not working well and even though it was late in the evening, the management promptly moved us to another room where the AC was better.

Modest location, 5 metro stops from the city centre, but with an interesting ( noisy ) park opposite. Reasonable reception staff, but not allowed to sit on chairs in reception area unless purchasing a drink!! Could do with more lifts. Spacious rooms, usual hard Chinese beds, bathroom clean enough and fair housekeeping. No wifi in rooms. No public restaurant or bar. Usual unpleasant Chinese breakfasts

We stayed here while on a class trip. The hotel room have many amenities for purchase- condoms, sex oil, disposable underwear. Beware if you are on a family vacation!

Carpeting was filthy and the beds were small and hard. After travelling for two weeks in China, this was the worst,
