“Don't bother going out of your way for this”

We were there as it was on our tour's itinerary. An hour drive's away from downtown Shanghai but took double the time to return due to traffic jam.
Frankly I was disappointed. There wasn't many variety in the local snacks & generally nothing much to see. Stuff are much cheaper than in Shanghai though. I was done with the place in 1.5 hours . I prefered Qibao Ancient Town over this.

“What a Surprise.”

Friends recommended this visit. Not dissapointed. What a quaint village. Such history. The bridges were fascinating, the boat trip along the canals gave a different view of the village. The people who were very friendly.

“Great for a village feeling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

This town is great to get a feeling of being in a Chinese village without travelling to far away.
This town is not really that old but has everything you need to feel like its old and lots of great food and drink here.

Check out the pearls and silk in one place.
Also the Tea house which the English Queen visited several times. And the Garden

“Nice water town!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2012

I think this is one of the largest water towns, but it is not very large. You can easily do it in a few hours. The local food is great and there is many opportunities for taking nice photos.

“Typical water city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 February 2012

First advantage is free entrance. the price of craft items is very reasonable for a touristic place. if you are asked to get your shoes polished, you should accept it is cheap (around 15 to 20 Yuans) and helps poor people
