We used this hotel for a 2 night stopover in Shanghai - 2 nights but really only 1 day. On arrival, the reception staff were extremely helpful for check-in and explaining all about the hotel. Our room was on the 8th floor with a view of the Bund and Huangpu River - albeit from the bathroom. It would have been even better to have this experience from the bedroom itself. On arrival there was fresh fruit in our room, which was replenished on the 2nd morning. One of the really strong features of this hotel is its quietness after the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. The lounge area with quiet areas for "personal space" also provide a day-long supply of coffee, tea and snacks. The breakfast provided an good array of Western and Asian foods with a cook on hand to turn out your favourite form of eggs. The hotel is well located on the Bund, at least for a short stay visit. It provided us with easy access to the Big Bus (hop on, hop off service), which we used throughout our day in Shanghai, We also took advantage of this ticket to take the night cruise on the river which start around 200m from the hotel. If you are planning to take this cruise make sure to go to the no. 7 bus stop and look for the ticket office below the level of the road - the signage is not good. But the river cruise itself is well worth it with an amazing view of the lights of Shanghai.

It doesn't have a pool or spa but if that isn't your priority, this is the place to stay. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by warm, friendly and helpful staff. There's an air of calm in the lobby, reception and throughout the hotel. Everything has tAsteful and elegant design with interesting artwork. A spacious lounge has computers and a printer, free coffee and cakes. Free wifi is available everywhere. We were upgraded and our 8th floor room was high enough to miss the traffic noise and have a great view. The amenities are wonderful with everything you could ask for incluing coffee machine. The free breakfast is adequate but nothing to write home about. We are here for a few more days at the end of our China trip and are looking forward to returning.

I have lived in Shanghai for a number of years and traveled extensively in China, and Les Suites is unique in its service (genuine, attentive, caring, personal), understated elegance (classy lux, not crassly bling), and simplicity in approach. (Here, I'd like to give a plug to Les Suites' Taiwan roots.)

The location is on the Bund, which is not really central for business (the financial district is across the Huangpu river), but you are right on the Bund with a great view and close to some of the top restaurants in town. I'd say it's a great location for the weekend after business.

Breakfast spread is very nice, without being over-indulgent - try the freshly made yogurt and the right-on-note bread pudding.

All in all, this is highly recommended.

Tips: For that weekend after business, wake up early and walk the Bund at 7 a.m. to see locals jogging, flying kites and doing morning exercises. And walk east from the hotel to explore parts of old Shanghai that are slowly disappearing.

We stayed at Les Suites for our first 4 nights in Shanghai, in late August. It was the perfect way to start a vacation in China. From the moment you enter, it is clear that this hotel is different. There is always the smell of fresh flowers. The lobby is not a huge public space, but a quiet, welcoming one. The "public" areas are designed for hotel guests only and offer many extra comforts. For example, the computers with internet access available to all guests are state-of-the-art. The rooms! The thoughtfulness that went into design details and materials is amazing. An espresso coffee maker! Then there is the incredible, mesmerizing view of the Bund. And did I mention the staff and concierge services? As good as it gets.

Room Tip: Get a room with a good view of the Bund.
