We (2 adults, 2 kids and one baby) stayed at Toberua for 5 nights in March 2016. We loved every second! The island is beautiful and they have a way to make you feel just like it is your home. The service is very personalized, and we miss the staff as much as the place. There were very few guests on the island when we were there. In fact, it was just us and a few honeymooners, so we did feel a bit at odd at times. Despite that and the fact that it is not a resort really focused on families (no kids clubs or activities), our kids loved it more than the heavily family-focused resort we stayed just before. They were free to roam around, explore and play in this little paradise, quietly and at their own pace. My only negative comment would be about the kids menu, which is identical every day (there are quite a few options, but the same options day after day and only ice cream for desert at lunch and dinner every day...) and a very "typical" kids menu, which left us feeling like we were paying a lot of money for a menu that involved a lot of french fries. Other than that, yes, this resort seems pricey, but you totally get what you are paying for! Can't wait to go back!

Bula and thank you for your positive review. We have listened to your comments about the childrens' menu and in our continual quest for improvement, are reviewing our kids' meals. Vinaka.

So much has been said in previous reviews about Toberua and I can vouch for it all being true!

My wife, 14 year old son and I visited Toberua Island in Sept last year, ok so we are a bit tardy in getting our review posted but my excuse is that we are still on Fiji (Toberua) time!! That is how good our holiday was!

Toberua is truly a magical island where you would be hard pressed to find any faults. The accommodation (bures), Island location, food, staff and management are near to perfect and the whole holiday experience as my title says is "Something Special" !!

The small size of the island and therefore the limited number of guests makes you feeling you are alone on your own tropical resort. On a number of occasions I did not see another living soul for hours on end.

There is plenty to do if you are that way inclined or like us just lay back and get that well earned rest you have earned.

The staff and management have thought about just about everything and if there is something they have not thought of, just ask and they will organise it for you.

Some of you may balk at the price but seriously in the case of Toberua Island you DO get value for money.

My family does have a rule about never holidaying in the same place twice as there are far too many wonderful places in the world to visit, but rules are meant to be broken and we WILL visit Toberua again it is seriously that good.

Thanks Sandy, Max and the whole team for memories that will last us a life time.

Room Tip: All rooms are only steps from the water. They are all wonderful.

We went here for our honeymoon and it was such an amazing place. The food is fantastic and abundant, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and the place is great value. So happy we went there and would love to go back some day.

This was truly a special place to stay for 5 nights this November. The only negative is that we didn't stay longer!

I think the Island has 13 bures, a "14th" for the talking, jalapeno eating parrot, Jack. We stayed in bure 12, which was lovely but a bit strange that while in the shower, you can see directly into the windows of the second floor of one of the staff houses.

We arrived and departed to the staff singing at the dock. They also serenade each of the tables at dinner nightly. The whole island was quite musically talented it really added to the island's ambiance. The staff choir performed on Sunday which was a special treat. There was plenty of time to relax and enjoy a phenomenal setting but there were also a lot of options for entertainment each day.

The kayaking trip through the mangrove was a great adventure. We also had a fantastic dive at Sacred Reef. The dive masters were great guides and helped to make me, a sometimes nervous diver, quite at ease.

5 stars all around, the food, the setting, and the people. We definitely would love the chance to return here.

One note - the transfer cost to be picked up/returned to the dock or Suva is about $215 (U.S.) per person.

Bula! Thank you for your review. We are delighted to hear your great comments about the ambiance, activities, food and setting. The return transfer cost is $216 Fiji dollars per person which is around USD$108. Thanks for telling us about the staff accommodation being visible from the outdoor bathroom. We will check it out.

My family and I (consists of 2 toddlers under 4 and my wife and I) stayed here mid November for 5 nights. We were really looking forward to getting away and spending some quality time with our children. We were not disappointed!
We were quite late to arrive at the jetty for the launch to the island, and the staff that were waiting for us were very polite and understanding (consider a flight direct to Suva if you are coming from Nadi, we drove, not a good idea with toddlers!!!). Once we got to the island, all of what we expected we experienced within the first few minutes. Staff were wonderful, location simply beautiful and accommodation on the mark.
I know many people talk about food and other things, but for my family and I, the friendliness of staff is most important. Toberua Island Resort cannot be faulted for this. The staff were great, always willing to set time aside for a quick chat with us, or to play with our children. It was an awesome experience that our toddlers are still talking about (especially being a part of the band during dinner!!!!)
Food was great, with varying menu's throughout the stay. Though some may find the cost pricey, it is well worth it considering some of the other places we went to later in our trip (this place was our highlight, did I mention that!).
We will definitely be looking to come back to visit again very soon. It was the perfect place to spend good quality time with family without the digital distractions. All I can say is do it. Go there, it is well worth it and you will not regret it.
