4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2011

Hotel was nice and clean, check in was easy and fast. more lights Needed for parking lot. Our room was nice and smelled fresh. The beds we soft and comfortable. It was a quick stop for us on our way home to texas from Virginia. Overall the hotel is very nicely updated and we enjoyed our stay. But, we had to wait to check out no receptionist at desk. Our family always stay at marriott properties. We love the comfort and how marriott put customers 1st.

As noted in other reviews, this hotel has been renovated for the new Residence Inn "look". This is a huge improvement overall with a warm color scheme, more modern and interesting look as well as a few high end details like granite counter tops. We were in two different two bedroom suites which even had working fireplaces (as in real wood --- no gas logs --- we got a box of chemical logs from Walgreens up the road a mile or two and used them). Beds were comfortable and linens nice. Plus, the lighting was very good in the room. Also, as noted in other reviews, the location is great albeit a little hard to find as it is on an access road. There is a nice indoor pool, large exercise room (5 treadmills), tennis/basketball court and pretty furnished courtyard. One side of the hotel is directly on the interstate. We were not there, but I suspect those rooms might be a bit noisy.
We did encounter the same issue raised by others. Our rooms were not stocked with extra toilet paper. As there were two bathrooms, we were able to share, but one extra roll should be in each bathroom. In addition, the maximum occupancy for the room was 5 people, but the room was stocked for only 4 (4 cups, plates, etc.). The suite also has only one thermostat. This means that everyone must agree on a temperature. It was fine with our group, but could be troubling for others. There are no towel racks other than the small ones for hand towels. Nothing was restocked for us. We could have used an extra soap as we had clearly put one bar at the kitchen sink (leaving a bathroom sink without soap). Also, we were not given additional soap for the dishwasher even though we had used what was given to us on arrival.
Breakfast was tasty with a nice selection --- eggs, meat, potatoes, doughnuts, bagels and other bread products, yogurt, fresh fruit, oatmeal, a waffle maker and great condiments like salsa, hot sauce, ketchup, etc. Everything tasted good, but there were problems. They simply do not seem to have enough forks and spoons, or bowls. We were a group of 10 with several children and adults getting up at different times. The problem was continuous. The attendant did not have them to offer and guests were wandering around with plates full of food and nothing to eat with. Food was not replenished regularly (no idea how many times we had to ask for milk or yogurt) and only a few were put out at a time. There was not enough seating for the size of the hotel. Also, there was no clear place to put used plates, so dirty dishes remained on tables for extended periods making the situation worse. These were not petty isolated issues. It was literally difficult to eat. Oh and the coffee kept running out.
Making matters worse, the attendant was surly.
The other staff members were nice but there were not enough of them and they could have used some additional training to answer questions .
With all of this said, we would stay in the hotel again in large part because of the two bedroom suites. It's not a bad choice but they really have staffing and service issues.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not along the interstate. Ask for a room that is not on the first floor. Th...

It appears the property has been recently renovated (in the past year or so) and it shows...they did not spare any expense, and I was quite impressed with the amenities the rooms had to offer, nothing was cheaply done. Pet friendly, great location to major interstate, highways, shopping and downtown, clean rooms, nice staff, would stay again.

We stopped here late at night on our way home and were happy we did! The hotel was very nice inside and the staff was some of the friendliest we have ever encountered. Even though we didn't have a reservation, they quickly gave us a room, and even upgraded it to one of the suites for a lower rate because of our late arrival time. We were very impressed by the room - lots of space, full kitchen, comfy bed, and most importantly, clean! We definitely did not see anything nasty like the reviewer under me mentioned! Some perks that went with our stay included free parking and free breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

I love Most Marriotts but this one was odd.. more costly than most, definately not worth it's price. Rooms were nice as in "well appointed" but absolutely not stocked at all...I had to go to my neighbors and ask for a roll of tissue...! No bedding for pull out sofa, No extra towels, I think we had two for three people. It felt like someone had come in and stole all the extras of everything out of the room! I arrived at 7pm and the entry door was locked, I had to stand outside and knock to be let in, and once your in ...your like in a lock down! Walls are paper thin! Shower was dirty (long black hairs on shower wall and we are all blonde) and you dont want to take off your socks and walk barefoot on the carpet by any means! On the day of check out....if you go outside...and this is before checkout time....you will be locked out of any side access doors. Trying to pack my car I had to go down a flight of stairs and out a side door to my car and then all the way around to the front desk and way down a hall an up an elevator to get back to my room! RIDICULOUS!!! But I guess I found out why theres so many locked doors, this isn't really a good area... there was a murder at the college down the street. A college student was killed by his roommate....ugg!!! Marble countertops or not, I would not pay more than $70.00 a night for this place !!!

Dear SeriousLivin,

Thank you for taking your time to share your recent stay at the Residence Inn Mobile. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed our "well appointed" room as we are very proud of the hotels recent renovation.
I am truly sorry that your room was not well stock ,I have shared your comments with our houskeeping department to ensure this doesn't happen again to you and or any future guests.

Please know that the hotel is located in a good area and that the safety and security of our guests is very important to us and this is why access is restricted for our guest only. The incident at the unveristy is not in anyway related to the hotel or the area, it was an unfortunate incident just like it could happen in any city.

Thank you for your loyalty to Marriott and we hope that if you are ever in the Mobile area in the future that you will give us another chance to better serve you.

Sincerely,
Christy Duprey Gurene
