“Nitya Resort- Decent Stay”
Reviewed 24 April 2010

Our travel to Goa was decided at the eleventh hour. I have made bookings through one of popular travel portals for 3 nights & 4 days & was charged INR 5100 /- (inclusion: complimentry breakfast )Considering that our stay was during extended weekend ( JAN 23 -JAN 26,2010) that too in peak season, when every other big & small, good or bad properties in Goa were completely sold out & we made hotel booking just 2 days before our travel!!! I think i managed to get a god deal but was keeping my fingers crossed because no feedback or review on Nitya was available on internet.

On reaching there, we felt quite happy with the exteriors of hotel The hotel is well maintained & qualify as 3 star hotel. The property was clean & biggest plus point of this hotel is its proximity from Calangute beach which is 10-15 min walk.If you dont want to walk you can very easily get Activa ( Rs 250/- per day during peak season) or a Yamaha / Bajaj motorcycle ( Rs 350/- per day) from local Goans just outside the hotel. This hotel has come up just 2 years before thats why look & feel of the hotel is quite appealing.

We landed up in this hotel around 8.30 am which was earlier than scheduled check in time of 12.00am & all rooms were full that time but front dsek staff was co operative & for the time being they made us comfortable in their lobby ,finally room was allotted to us around 10 am.

We put up in a deluxe room which was very spacious, good interiors & had queen size bed, sofa set ,LCD TV,mini fridge, coffee maker ,electronic locker in it .This room had a small balcony which faced roof top swimming pool ( very small) of the hotel.Bed sheets, linen, towels etc provided to us in all 3 days were clean ,white & spotless.House keeeping was quite prompt. We were happy & satisfied with quality of rooms.

On arrival ,We were given option to upgrade to super deluxe room by paying additional Rs 1000 per day which we refused because 1) to our surprise though they were charging more but their super deluxe room was even smaller then deluxe room 2) there is no difference in interiors, view from the rooms and amenities of deluxe & super deluxe rooms.3) The only differentiator is that bathroom of super deluxe is fitted with jacuzzi ( very small & looks congested & dirty) hence we dropped the idea of upgrade

Food in their restaurant is a huge let down though waiters & restaurant staff was very cooperative & prompt..Breakfast ( buffet) on all three days was very average in terms of food quality & taste. On first day of our stay most of the guests were served with cold food .When we compalined about it to restaurant staff they said that they cant do anything because they have exhausted liquid wax or fuel which is used to heat food containers.More shock came in when they informed us that management is vey much aware about the issue but still sleeping over it because tussle is going on between hotel management & restaurant owner over some internal matters. We then approached hotel manager & forced him to take corrective steps .For rest 3 days of our stay though we got warm breakfast but it still lacked in taste, variety & quality.

Rooftop swimming pool is so small that it looks crowded even with 5-6 adults in it but hygiene & cleanliness in & around pool is good. The bar near the pool was closed due to some renovation so didn't get the oportunity of enjoying my drink while taking a dip.

Hospitality & caring attitide of their staff made up for the bad experience on food thing and our stay will worth remember for the value for money that Nitya offered.

I found this hotel very clean.
Staff was friendly. Staff took care about the cleanliness and other requirements.
Around 10 mins walk from the beach.
The food in the hotel was very good. worth the money I have paid.

Nitya Resorts: Calangute
Guest: Family from Bangalore
Stay:Jan25th to Jan 29th 2010.

This is a pretty decent property for a short family stay-out.
Every thing about the place has been kept simple and not too elaborate, right from the budget.
I made my bookings via Travelguru and everything went as planned.

The airport transfers were dot on time, in pretty decent cars and the driver was a good guide of Goa.
The location of the property is excellent and the ambiance good as well, though a bit modern for a Goa stay, (i.e. if you prefer to stay a heritage property, a la Goan style).

The Deluxe rooms are quite well made up with nice beds and LCDs, but a tad small for a family.
One thing that catches you is the staff who are extremely hospitable and welcoming, ever willing to take care of your needs.
Breakfast is basic with not too many options and tasted so-so .But buffet dinner they serve there was well over average and good, many a times.
A small pool on the 2nd floor serves as a nice place to relax with the family, after hangout at the beach.
Overall, is was good value for money.

The Nitya Resort near Calangute Beach in Goa is a decent place to stay if you're on a budget trip and want to stay walking distance from the beach.

The rooms are a pretty decent size, with comfortable beds, TV, and seating space. There is a balcony, but not much of a view. The beds were promptly made everyday while we were gone, and overall staff hospitality was quite good.

There is a swimming pool next to the small restaurant, and is a good place for families to relax with the kids. The restaurant has a rather small menu, but decent fare, at reasonable prices.

The one thing I liked is the smiling faces of the employees during the small buffet breakfast. Many a times have I stayed at budget hotels, where the expressions of the breakfast staff is enough to make you lose your appetite. This was a pleasant change.

The walk to Calangute and Baga beach is a little long, but very doable. In case you're renting a car in Goa, the hotel has rather limited parking space, but you should be able to manage something.
