“Excellent vacation and beautiful location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

Very recently we decided to spend 20 days of relaxing vacation time at Goa and how right the decision was to go to Royal Palms at Benaulim. The Beach was a short walk away, but the swimming pool with the loungers and pool side bar and takeaway from the in house restaurant was amazing so the beach was good only for the sunsets and the night parties. The apartment and the kitchen had all you would require for your comfort as we prefer light and homemade food where as my daughter wants something totally opposite. THE Staff there was very helpful and friendly and as a whole we could not have had a more perfect vacation. HERES looking forward to spending time there every year and would advise everyone to check it out ASAP.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the pool as the sunsets are beautiful from those

If you are going to goa for 3-4 nights and want to be pampered silly and don't mind spending the big bucks for it, this is NOT the place for you; you're better off at one of the 5 star resorts of South Goa like The Leela or the Taj. If you want to do the sightseeing circuit and like to be among crowds, stick to one of the North goa hotels, they are cheap and convenient. But if you're planning on spending a week or more in Goa, with possibly wife and kids, and are on a budget (i don't know anybody with unlimited spending capacity on a vacation, so I guess most of us fit into this latter category), and are interested in rest and relaxation, Royal Goan Beach Club, Royal Palms is the place for you.
Don't be put off by the entrance - it does look as if you are entering an appartment complex in a city, but things improve drastically as you move in. The rooms are spacious, clean and well-maintained. From the previous reviews, I gather that the place has undergone extensive renovation but thankfully, it show off. The pool is decent and is cleaned daily. It is supervised so that no guests drop in unshowered or without putting on swimming costumes. The games room is a bit cramped but well-equipped. Carry your own books or Kindle as the library is not that well-stocked
While its not right on the beach, the walk to the beach is not exhausting and is in fact a microcosm of Goan culture.
Something for everyone - for the sports conscious, there's a gymnasium (though the equipment is a bit run down) and games galore. The kids are kept busy with a very dynamic activity program run by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic young men. You can relax by the pool, sipping on a beer or a fancy cocktail, reading under the shades of the umbrellas. For the avid shoppers, the entire lane leading upto the resort and the road leading to the beach is lined with shacks selling everything from jewellery to footwear.
But if you want to explore the culture, rent a bicycle or a motorised two-wheeler (preferably the former) and push off early in the morning for a glorious whole day ride. Explore the nearby settlements like Maddie, Varca, Sernabatim, Colva, Betalbetim. Whenever you feel hungry, stop by a shack and feast on delicious seafood and ice cold beer.
If you are staying for a longer period, you may not want to run up a big bar tab and can purchase your own liquor at the shop just outside the resort gate and stock up your refrigerator. While the restaurant (Trattoria) serves delicious food at very reasonable prices, explore eating at the shacks along the road and at the beach for some delicious Goan food.
One of the best part was that, there are a large number of foreigners staying for 3-6 months in that vicinity, renting appartments for long terms. So when you move out, the ambience is exotic. Sit at the German Bakery at the crossroads for some delicious cake and coffee and you hear a variety of languages - British English, US English, Russian, Ukrainian, Slavic languages, interspersed with Konkani - a heady cocktail.
All in all, an extremely enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter while pool facing rooms will be a bit noisy but livelier.

I had a very good stay at the hotel..... Hotel was clean and good swimming pool and greenery surround at the hotel
Good

1. Swimming Pool
2. Peace Stay with Nice Big rooms
3. Supermarket & Spa in the hotel
4. Daily activities like painting, badminton tournament, housie
5. Good Food @ Restaurant , Indoor games

Bad
1. Expect room to have some initial issues/ glitches of cleaning & not working heater or A/C properly
2. Containers given may not be clean & hygienic at the start
3. Water to be filled from cooler on our own

The Benaulim beach is 10 - 12 min walk from the resort. You will rent bike / car just outside the resort at good price

Overall good experience at the resort and can be recommended to others

Room Tip: Try to take beach facing rooms

We stayed in The Royal Goan Beach Club at the Royal Palms for a week from 25th February till 3rd March as RCI guest. The stay was pleasant. It is not a just resort to relax and enjoy nature. To enjoy it one have to take part in activities and be out going. It is in the heart of Benaulim a lively settlement of Goa. Our experience starts from Ms Betty at the reception who speaks little but handles her responsibility with ease and efficiency the rest of the service help were decent.
Ours was a Studio apartment that is quite spacious with adequate kitchenette, toilet and sitting dining spaces. Those who wish to cook and stay the place is ideal for them. The furniture and finishes were not extra ordinary but OK. There were two balconies to spend your leisure time.
The environment was nice, the swimming pool area, the activities area, the roads and gardens were well planned and maintained. The restaurant La-Tortilla is not the best and deserves improvement. But there are many eateries just outside the entry gate which were reasonable and manageable. Little more open space within the campus could have made the total ambience more attractive and enjoyable.
The beach is about a kilometer away and you may spend most of your time there with fun and food around. Rented Tourist Taxis are available outside the gate for site seeing. They can be directly negotiated or arranged through the front desk staff. Local shops are all around for your shopping needs. The main towns Vasco, Panaji and the Airport are over thirty kilometers from Benaulim.
Goa has its attraction for all classes and types of people. We can swear the stay at The Royal Goan Beach Club at the Royal Palms will be worth its value.

Room Tip: In side rooms with pool view. Avoid road facing rooms.
