“Green property but not luxurious”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2012

Laguna Anjuna is a decent place to stay for people who want that feeling of staying amidst nature. The Villa we booked had an old world feeling to it. This is not a place to stay if you are looking for luxury though. The intercom system is weird and you have to dial full telephone numbers each time. The hotel area is deserted at nights and even during days. Taxis are hard to get and they overcharge. Also the location is far off from other parts of Goa. Stay here if you can tolerate insects and lizards and hens. Its a very green property. The Wifi is pathetic and there are frequent power cuts too.

Laguna Anjuna is my favourite hotel. It has a nice eco feeling that makes you more relaxed. This hotel has nice staff who are very chilled and if you wan’t to go any where on a motor bike or in a taxi the boys out the front are there to help. Laguna Anjuna has nice rooms and a fantastic pool , but if you like sitting around the pool area you’re pretty limited to where you sit. The bar area is very nice with music playing so you can listen to the music; and a little thing called “mother nature”. Oh yeah I almost forgot there is also the nicest dog who hangs out at the bar called Lucky, Unfortunately she is getting extremely old so she only comes out at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast Laguna Anjuna have a morning buffet but I personally don’t fancy it but there is a nice bread. Another thing at Laguna Anjuna is club mud which is a mud bath which I highly recommend that you DO NOT ENTER!! it is out in the open and I have seen 2 snakes and 3 toads enter.
Once again Laguna Anjuna is my favourite hotel if you like all the good things I have put up in this review it might just be the place for you but if you don’t it might not be for you.

Room Tip: Rooms down the end are quieter

There are so many hotels in Goa and it is very difficult to actually choose the one you want without a recce.

First off Baga & Calangute have become so overcrowded and commercial, that you definitely don't want to stay there.

Ten minutes from Baga is Laguna, Anjuna; and entering it immediately transports you to a lush tropical paradise with a large swimming pool, which truly gives you the Lagoon experience....hence the name!!

The Hotel has about three 2/3 bedroom villa's and approximately a dozen independent rooms all with attached toilets and air-conditioned.

Beyond the secluded entrance to the hotel and after you walk across a wooden bridge and enter this tropical paradise; the main building is a huge structure which dominates the the complex. It is an old Portugese house which has now been converted to a Bar, part indoor and outdoor restaurant overlooking the pool, service area, Pool room for those who want to try their hand at skittles.

This is the formal / informal gathering ground for all the hotel guests starting with the complimentary breakfast which literally has it all....fruits, fruit juices, cereals, eggs to order, vegetables, puri's local bread, loads of butter, preserves and truly outstanding filter coffee!! or tea if that's your preference. You may also choose to order A la Cart but that does not make sense when this incredible breakfast is complimentary.

Beyond the main building lie's the very artistically planned and laid out rooms and cottages comprising of smaller buildings all linked by narrow winding paths full of shrubbery and often confounding and mysterious....I just loved it, like a little maze and it took us a couple of days to get to know our way around.

Most of the rooms are large and spacious with high tiled roof's built on wooden lattices. Unfortunately these don't help the air-conditioning very much but no two rooms are the same and each is unique in it's layout so if you have the option; then check out two or three rooms before you decide where you want to stay.

The rooms are clean with polished red floors fairly comfortable bed, built in cup-boards, Television (you want one if you have kids around) and a nice clean toilet.

The staff are excellent, very polite and always trying to make you comfortable.

In case you decide to eat lunch or dinner there they have an excellent menu with some superb food which I would definitely recommend.

If you decide to stay at Laguna; the next thing to organize is transportation; two and four wheelers are easily available on hire.

There's so much to do that transportation is a must. From Anjuna, Curly's is one of the favorite beach shacks which literally overlooks Anjuna Beach; the food is superb and every evening is a party!!

After swimming in the sea there's nothing like a nice afternoon dip at the Laguna pool!!

It's a great getaway especially if you have kids with you!!

After scouring online sites for a unique but safe place to stay on my own in India I came across Hotel Laguna Ajuna. The grounds are very pretty and the gardens are wild and unkempt in a extremely charming way. This hotel is not expensive and real value for money, however I wasn't overly impressed with the villas as they were really dark but massive in size. Don't spend too much time in your villa as Anjuna and the surrounding areas are so much fun to explore on a little rented moped which ypu can hire from the hotel for £2-£3 per day. One little tip - try and see Graham from UB40 perform on a Thursday night he is amazing and the night is so much fun!!
