A hot cup of tea with kachori subzi and /or samosa on a wintry morning is simply divine. Some hot jalebis to finish the breakfast is sure to leave one craving for more....

Best place in South Kolkata for " Chai and Kachoris"! Half the people who go for a morning walk at Rabindra Sarovar to lose calories, end up having a quick bite at Maharani and end up adding back all the calories! The best thing about the kachories is the green chilly slices served along with the aloo dum!
Oh! and BTW, most people confuse " Maharani" with "Maharaja"! Both serve the same food and are within a few metres of each other!

While #kolkata may assume different colours and different moods on special occasions like #Durga Puja, #Christmas, poila #baisakh and so on, one consistent and cherished moment for me are #Sunday mornings in Kolkata. It is a mood and feel, I probably enjoy the most. The cool morning breeze, balanced by the just risen sun allows you to take long walks, and empty roads also offers you the option to take your car out and take those drives which, on other days seems like nightmares. If you stay around #Gariahat / #Jadavpur, #dhakuria lake is a wonderful option to spend a refreshing morning. And Sunday morning can well be a time to indulge a bit by breaking away from your tight diet schedule of the week. #Maharaja and #Maharani, two joints which are a 10 min walk from the western exit of Rabindra #Sarovar will offer you an wonderful option to let you indulge yourself. Hot kachuris straight out from the kadai with a wonderfully blended aloo subji will kickstart your Sunday indulgence. The #kachoris are crispy with a lovely stuffing of hing (#asafoetida) and sattu; avoid losing the crispness by pouring the subzi over it. Check if your plate has that sumptuous green chilly chutni. If not, ask for it and a dash of tamarind chutney. The chillies are not particularly hot but adds a wonderful feel as you bite them in the medley of kachori and subji in your mouth. The #jalebis are tempting; more so as they jump out from the kadai onto the adjacent bowl, inviting you dangerously to taste them. Don't worry, there are enough of them and hence no need to hurry through your crispy kachori for them. Stretch your hand out when you are thru and the shop guys know that now the jalebis need to fly onto your plate. Once done, wash all these sins by having the just-prepared brewing hot tea in the small earthen pot which reminds you that this city continues to remain unique and unmatched with these differentiators.
